Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing knife!! I lead full-moon snow shoe outtings in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. On the full moon just before Christmas, we came across a pine tree that had fallen across the trail, about 6-8 inches in diameter. Everyone had, of course, to climb over it, just a tad awkward. I decided that it should be removed for everyone's easy access on the trail. I pulled out the saw blade on this knife, and proceeded to saw away. People thought I was kidding at first, but when I continued to saw they then thought I was nuts. 10 minutes later, the tree was cut, and removed from the trail. What a FANTASTIC tool this knife is!! Well worth every penny!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Victorinox strong This knife has everything I want in the way of tools, etc. After watching the show "How It's Made", about the Victorinox plant, I decided to carry 2 pocket knives. The biggest problem for me is how to carry. I currently carry a strong single locking blade knife, clipped to my front pocket and this Victorinox in my back pocket next to my wallet. I never know it's there till I need wallet contents. I think everyone struggles with how to carry all the implements you want (perfect knife/knives), comfortably and discretely. I have quite a few pocket knives over the years and I think I'm getting close with my Victorinox Champ and single blade. P.S. The magnifying glass is a must when your in your 60's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Knife Used daily -it replaces my toolbox in the size of a sponge. Craftsmanship second to none. Quality is truly amazing. Worth every dime it cost. Used for too many things to list - seriously. It is the greatest knife I've ever owned. The only thing missing is a flint and striker. Toss the hook tool and replace is with a flint and striker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The hook - what you should know The knife has been a companion tool for me almost anywhere I go.Ive brought it to 3 continents, and use it almost daily. The feature least understood is the hook. I read the other reviews and it was mentioned that the hook is useless! Its a great tool. Heres what it does:It carries packages, groceries etc. Ever been vacationing and had to carry packages at stores and shops? Hook the first bag from the shoes your wife had to buy, then when she finds that italian dress... Pass the knife handle through the bag and clasp the knife handle and you got 2 gifts in 1 hand, continue with the bottle of wine, cheesy wood carved tourist nick-nacks, etc, and you can carry all of those gifts comfortably in 1 hand!!! The tool is also great for popping a soda top, pulling string or laces very tight, etc. I even used it to pull a wire that was on tention back into its clasp. Its not as importaint as the knife blade but I use it as much as any other tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You WILL wind up using all these tools This is maybe my fifth Swiss Army Knife. I've tried several smaller versions in an attempt to get just the essentials in a smaller package. They are all great knives, but this is the one I carry. Super Tinker, Explorer, Compact, Climber, Angler, etc... they now form a nice little collection while the SwissChamp goes in my pocket. It is a big knife, but it is also very pocketable. If you are a front pocket wallet carrier, the knife can fit next to it in your pocket and stay in the upright position. Perfect! Just yesterday I used the pliers, phillips head, main blade, and bottle opener. You will use all these tools! Even the stupid fish scaler works great as a back scratcher, fork, or a 'poker' stick. Hopefully you wash it in between these activities :) Some cons- the plus scales would have been nice. The knife is already thick so adding a tiny bit more thickness for definite functionality would have been a good touch. My biggest bet peeve is the magnifying glass. Vic went from the old glass style to this cheapo plastic style, which will scratch easily. It is a wider lens but lower power. I've heard that Vic will replace it with the old style if you ask nicely, but I'm going to wait until mine gets scratched up first. I wish that I had started here rather than trying to pick just the tools I wanted. It would have saved some money in the long run. The current price on REI ($55) is a steal. Cheaper than Amazon where you might get somebody's used knife from a shady vendor. Don't think... buy it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect. I've had this knife for over 15 years and it looks like it will last a lifetime (or even passed down to future generations), so it's definitely worth the money. Almost every feature on this knife has been useful at some point. -The knife, scissors, pliers, and screwdrivers are among the best and most commonly used features of the knife and they all perform very well despite their small size. -I have used the corkscrew to open wine bottles with no problem at all (it's easier if you place the wine bottle on the floor, put downward pressure on the bottle using the handle, and pull the cork up). There is also a bottle opener if you prefer a brew. -I use the mini flat-head screwdriver on the corkscrew to tighten the screws on my eyeglasses. -The pen seems kind of ridiculous, but it has come in handy when I couldn't find a pen anywhere and it works well. -I've used the wood saw a few times and it works really well. The only flaw in the knife is that the plastic housing developed a small crack near the pen holder, but it doesn't effect the functionality at all. The best part of the knife is that almost every tool I ever need is in one small package. I would have misplaced all these tools in the past 15 years, but since it's so small, I just keep it on my desk and it never gets lost! End of story: great knife for everyday use, camping, survival, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Tool This is a great knife. It seems a little too big to put in your pocket, but it is fine in a sheath. The tools are easily accessed, and they are the perfect size. The hook is somewhat useless, but all other tools are efficient and high quality. I carry this knife almost everyday and use it very frequently. The large knife is very sharp and holds the edge well.
