I had the regular torchlight before and my bag was stolen so I had to upgrade, after doing some research I found that they offered a down version of the bag I previously had, plus some features. My girlfriend has the women's version of this sleeping bag, and they zip together to create a huge sleeping bag so it's nice being able to camp together and separately with the same bag. It has a new feature where it can tie around your sleeping pad and that I ended up using and enjoying more than expected. I also enjoyed that it packs down a lot smaller than the synthetic one I had previously.
I’ve been extremely impressed with my Big Agnes Torchlight sleeping bag. The expandable side panels are a genuinely useful feature—they let me customize the fit depending on the weather or how much room I want, which makes for a much more comfortable night’s sleep than a traditional mummy bag. The insulation has kept me warm on cold nights without feeling overly bulky, and the bag packs down well for travel and backpacking. The materials feel durable, the zippers operate smoothly, and the overall construction reflects the quality I’ve come to expect from Big Agnes. If you’re looking for a sleeping bag that balances warmth, comfort, and versatility, the Torchlight is an outstanding choice. It’s one of those pieces of gear that makes camping more enjoyable, and I’d confidently recommend it to anyone who spends time outdoors.
Replaced an old north face sleeping bag with this one and it’s been great. 35+ nights in so far and no complaints. The ability to lock it onto the sleeping pad is next level. I toss and turn, and often end up with the sleeping bad twisted all around me. Not amymore! Lightweight, extra zipper “extenders” for a wider feel. Very durable. Extremely satisfied
Light weight mummy bag great for camping. Used in upper 40 degree night in south western Pennsylvania. Stayed dry and warm, actually removed extra clothing throughout the night. There is a tight toe box but it's also a mummy bag. Straps on bottom of bag fit sleeping pad nicely. Also, love the bright orange color.
It is very compact and just the right weight for summer backpacking trips. I used it for a trip that was a couple of nights. It was important to get a bag that was compact and one utilizing the mattress sleeve was ideal. The system freed up space in my backpack for food!
I gave this bag a 5 because it is the best bag that I've used. For a consistent 8 day backpack hunt with night temperatures ranging from 50°-30° I was more then comfortable in this bag. The zippers works great and the side expanders your a nice addition.
I'm 5'10 and the regular size is perfect. I use a wide pad and had no problem connecting the two together. The bag is light, soft, cozy and very warm. Especially when paired with a past that has an R value of 4.8. I love this sleep system!
Just got back today from an overngt bp-ing trip, slept at 11,500 overngt, somewhat damp in the valley that we crashed in. Warm and comfortable ALL night (temps down to just above freezing - probably 34-36 degrees). Plenty of room!
Overall this is a great 3-season bag. The fact that it provides extra room is excellent. Hood zips up nicely and is not overly snug. Your first unpack, make sure you let it down for a couple of hours. It is not a roll out the bag and go to bed type of unit. It needs to breathe for at least an hour or two every time, or else you will be cold the whole night. Where it falls a little short is the zipper, which gets stuck fairly easily. It's not a big deal, but it does make it a bit annoying. Given the price point, you'd think they would invest a little more in the zipper. Also, the draft damper they have riding the zipper tends to displace when you move around, letting in all the cold air. As with most other sleeping bags, the temperature rating is a survival rating take 10 degrees off, and that's usually around your comfort rating. It's true with this bag, especially, I would say something around 35 degrees for comfortable sleep, obviously making sure you have a good insulated pad. Not deal breakers but annoying nonetheless. I would still buy it again for a solid, lightweight 3-season bag.
Easily packed and very warm. I haven't used the pad system but I love the idea of it. Very light weight and overall a great bag for above freezing temps.
