I'm 5'10 and the regular size is perfect. I use a wide pad and had no problem connecting the two together. The bag is light, soft, cozy and very warm. Especially when paired with a past that has an R value of 4.8. I love this sleep system!
Overall this is a great 3-season bag. The fact that it provides extra room is excellent. Hood zips up nicely and is not overly snug. Your first unpack, make sure you let it down for a couple of hours. It is not a roll out the bag and go to bed type of unit. It needs to breathe for at least an hour or two every time, or else you will be cold the whole night. Where it falls a little short is the zipper, which gets stuck fairly easily. It's not a big deal, but it does make it a bit annoying. Given the price point, you'd think they would invest a little more in the zipper. Also, the draft damper they have riding the zipper tends to displace when you move around, letting in all the cold air. As with most other sleeping bags, the temperature rating is a survival rating take 10 degrees off, and that's usually around your comfort rating. It's true with this bag, especially, I would say something around 35 degrees for comfortable sleep, obviously making sure you have a good insulated pad. Not deal breakers but annoying nonetheless. I would still buy it again for a solid, lightweight 3-season bag.
