I agree it's a little too heavy for the handlebars, but will be great on top of my old man mountain rear rack. Going to tour the divide for a couple weeks this summer and think this will make for some luxury camping compared to my ultralight 1 man tent. It's significantly heavier than what most bikepackers would like, because they love the suffer fest including awful sleep, (my big Agnes 1man ultralight is 1/2 the weight of this) but I don't race and would rather sleep comfortably on bikepacking trips than sleep miserably in a bivy or hammock setup. You could throw a party in this tent.
I really like this tent but didn't love having that much weight on my drop bars. Did two trips with it last year and there were a couple times where the weight made it difficult to steer. This year I'm going to move the Shortstik poles to a fork bag or somewhere else closer to the center of gravity. The design is great and I loved having the extra large vestibule to cover my bike and gear.
Enjoying the tent. Not completely pleased with the instructions (came with four Velcro straps but not sure what they are for) My biggest gripe with BA is not with tent but the lack of footprint. On their web site they show and talk about the extended footprint that covers the and the tent, but they don’t sell/make it any more. Maybe they need to make two (2) different footprints, and need to update their web page.
This tent is to set up, perfect for one snug for two, waterproof, and has a spacious vestibule.
