I love this bag for our scout adventures in Florida and the Georgia Mountains. I have an R4 pad/mat. Rarely the temp is below 30, but when it is I take the whole bag. Most times, I take parts. Blue part for down to 50 degree F and Orange for below 50 to 30. I use a hot water bottle to help the bag warm up process and have learned to keep my head covered. Thankfully I’m short so I can pull the bag tight around the top of my head and sleep inside the bag. It gives me plenty of room to move that I can’t get in a mummy bag. Go summer camp- lows of 50 a I only used the blue part as a quilt rather than the whole bag. It just gives me so many options. I recommend this for our scouts as a good purchase to give them one item that fits many situations. My tent got rained out at summer camp and my bed was wet without access to a dryer. The bag still kept me warm for the night and rested - if a little pruney - in the morning when I could hang it to dry.
At nearly 6 pounds, this bag packs down to about the size of an entire 65 liter bag. 15 degree rating is very far off. This bad is really not warm at all.
I purchased this for my daughter for Scouts. The bag rating is not accurate at all. With a R 5 pad, alpaca tights, alpaca sweater, and a hat on my daughter froze in 45 degree weather using the 15 degree setup.
