The pants are quality, material stretchy, not too thick or thin; would certainly wick moisture. One really cool feature is the inner drawstring to tighten the waist after zipping and buttoning. However, my beef is with the sizing. I am 5’2", 120lbs, and typically a size 4. I ordered the 4 Short not realizing that the Prana "short" is a 30" inseam (32" is regular and 34" tall) which is more standard for men’s sizing, not women’s. I expected short to be a 27-28" inseam like most brands. In addition to that, I was swimming in the pants. They felt more like a size 6 or 8. Will be returning.
Comfortable even in warm weather. Fit was accurate and incredible. Comfortable even in warm weather and significantly more durable than expected. These pants were able to go on a hike and run errands around town without feeling out of place at either location.
These just arrived yesterday and I like the cut and fabric. Depending on the brand I wear a 0 or a 2. I am 5'3" and weigh 120. After reading reviews and knowing the fabric is stretch, I ordered a 0. I tried them on and couldn't decide if they fit or were too big. So today I am wearing them and do feel they are much too big, plus they will likely stretch. But I am worried a 00 will be too small since I have never worn that size in my entire life, and wish I had them to try on before returning these. I did take the tags off already but I still have them, so hope returning them if I choose to is ok. Another concern i have about the 00 is that though I'm small, there are certainly women much smaller than me with thinner legs (I have a curvy body), so what size do they get? HOWEVER separate from the size issue, I really do like these pants and have nothing like them. I even love the 32" length because it bunches up when wearing sneakers (i love that too long look), and I tried them on with some high heel boots and they looked super cute! So pants yes, but they are too baggy so thinking of what to do. I plan to wear them to work, running around shopping, dressed up, and on a trip to Japan I'm taking soon.
Seems like great material and construction, but I can’t imagine this would fit properly on anyone with a curvy or athletic build. I’m 5’5” and 130 lbs and ordered the size 6/32. The thighs and backside fit great, but everywhere else was too baggy or long, especially in the waist where I can fit an entire Nalgene water bottle… The pants are technically wearable with the drawstring waist, but it messes with the shaping to have to cinch in so much. Worried if I size down the the thighs will be too tight to wear.
These are very comfortable. Fit is nice, not to tight or to loose. Material is great quality. I would say comfort is the best thing about these, these aren't for fashion, they are for function. I love the color, goes with just about anything. Breathable fabric.
I had lost quite a bit of weight and needed something new that fits to wear hiking so when we were out of town and realized how close by an REI was we went in to try some things on and these were a hit for both myself and my wife as well. The varying length options is helpful for different bodies, and we both found them very comfortable on a recent hike. They feel sturdy yet cool and breathable, definitely helped wick the sweat away, and honestly even seemed to not hang on to dog hair either (a plus when you have two golden retrievers). They’re definitely worth the price.
I'm disappointed in the quality of this material, especially given the price and the fact that it's marketed for hiking with "fabric with enhanced durability and versatility". I wore these pants four times walking around town, not hiking or brushing against abrasive materials, then HAND washed them and hung them to dry inside, and noticed it started pilling. This is not the quality I would envision for pants designed for hiking. I will say they are comfortable and dry quickly, and I appreciate the pockets. Another small piece of feedback is that there are two deliberate stitched holes on the crotch, presumably for ventilation, but truthfully, it's a bit awkward as you can see through to the underwear color... Overall, I would recommend other pants instead of these.
Like the pants but what you call short, is really average. I ordered REI pants in 10 short before and the inseam was 28" and expected this to be the same, but when I checked on the website, it says 30" is short for these pants. So as much as I like the pants think you should consult with a short person to get it right. Will keep but need to shorten 2". I'm 5' tall and legs are proportional to my height. I am not tiny. These were 8 short. So disappointed that I have to fix. I actually thought you sent me the wrong pair, but found out that is what you call "short". If this shows up as "John R" this is his wife so referring to women's pants.
The pants are decent overall. However there is a lot of extra fabric around the crotch and wait area. The proportions seem off and fit more like men’s pants. I ordered a size 2 and think a 0 would be too small in the waist but there’s a lot of bunching around the butt and crotch area. If I didn’t take the tags off I probably would have returned them as the fit isn’t great. I’m 5’4 125 pounds.
Loved the pants. They are comfortable and did a good job of repelling light rain. I was disappointed though to find, (after one trip) the pants showed wear and "pilled" underneath the hip belt of my backpack.
