I loved this chair. Its comfort to weight is great. I love the vented seating surface. I love the beefy frame. Unfortunately the rubber that connects the seating surface to the frame are absolute junk. Bought the chair in June. Took it backpacking 3 times and on a day hike once… and this weekend the piece of junk failed on me leaving me carrying two points of useless metal and plastic for the second half of my trip. The chair has a 300lb user limit and I’m about 250. The frame seems more than capable of handling the high weigh limit, but the connecting points area complete failure of design.
It is a nice chair. It is not for "Full Figured" people. My wife has a larger posterior area, and the straps on the side don't hold her in. In fact she said it was very uncomfortable for her to sit in. She said on the top of the chair hurt her as well. Now I am a bigger guy as well, but less in the rear. I fit just fine. It sits lower than I would like. But it was comfortable. The snaps of the chair are very stout. They take some getting used to. I like the weight, but it does weigh more than advertised. 2lbs 2oz with the case. To me that is too much weight for cost and comfort difference of the REI trail boss chair we have. I will keep the chair, and use it. but I see this one being stored on my motorcycle and not being in my back packing gear.
Rubber feet ripped through after 3 mo tha of owning this chair and now a month later i still cant get an email back to get new feet for this production
I acquired on March 2023 a Nemo camping chair for my bike tour in Central America, and I must say that I had high hopes for a comfortable and lightweight seating solution. While the chair had some positive attributes, it fell short of expectations, particularly in terms of durability. The Nemo camping chair is indeed comfortable and impressively lightweight, making it a convenient choice for travelers. It's marketed as capable of holding a 300-pound person, which initially instilled confidence. However, my own experience left me quite disappointed. I weigh 160 pounds, well within the chair's supposed weight limit, yet during a normal session of sitting, one of the upper hooks unexpectedly tore. This abrupt failure compromised my comfort and left me without a chair for the remainder of my bike tour. Given that the chair couldn't withstand my weight under regular conditions, I can't help but question its true capacity. While the Nemo camping chair has its merits, its unexpected and premature failure has left me with reservations about its overall durability, especially for those planning extended outdoor adventures. If you are considering this chair, it may be wise to proceed with caution and possibly explore other options that prioritize sturdiness and reliability.
Had this chair for a 12 day float trip. Lasted 4 days and the legs pushed through the rubber feet making it useless in soft ground. Also backrest pushed through the holder. Had to use zip ties and lots of duct tape to make it useful for rest of trip
At 225-30 lbs I was looking for a sturdy yet relatively light chair. Just returned from a 45 mile high route trip in Colorado’s Weminuche Wilderness. This chair is ultra supportive and sturdy. I didnt really find the adjustability feature to be as useful as advertised. That being said, I found that the laid back setting was perfect for no matter what I was doing. I also appreciated the small foot pads. My previous chairs legs would continually sink into the soft ground. Not having to worry about placement was a welcome feature. I would have liked the storage sack to have some webbing loops to facilitate strapping the chair to the outside of my pack. All in all, a great chair, one I look forward to using for a long time, and based on the quality of construction I feel I will have this a while!
Just got this chair to use on my photography expeditions while I wait for the right shot. It's small so can go right on the outside of my camera backpack and the quality is excellent. Really like the adjustability. It's not quite a comfortable as a large non-portable chair would be but there's a trade-off to be made for sure for it's weight and portability, and one that I'd gladly make. Really really happy I got this. And, it's easy to set up, first time takes a few mins to read the steps (which are sewn into the bag) but once you do it, it's very logical and easy to do again. Love it, highly recommended. (I am 5'9"" 170 lbs).
So, I had the Helinox and the REI versions before realizing that this one exists. This is like $20 more than either of those, but it is by far the best of the options. The base has two design differences (a stronger, oblong crossbar, and a riveted hub piece) that make it significantly more stable than either of those. The back of the chair also helps. The mesh fabric and some flexion in the two uprights makes it sort of contour to your back in a way that is significantly more comfortable and supportive. The “recline” straps are maybe unnecessary but cool nonetheless!
Easy to assemble and comfortable for hours
