I picked up the Leki SWTCH Pow Ski Poles on a whim after realizing that now that I’m no longer renting equipment (and have started buying my own skis), I’d also need my own poles. Right away, the construction stood out, these feel noticeably sturdier than any poles I’ve used before. They’re slightly wider than typical rental poles, but after using them a few times this season, they seem far less susceptible to bending or twisting. Despite the more robust build, they actually feel lighter in hand than the traditional rental setup. The grip is another highlight. It’s very ergonomic and comfortable whether I’m skiing with gloves or without. The baskets are a bit on the smaller side, but for the type of skiing I do that hasn’t been an issue. If anything, they add to the sleek, clean look of the poles.
