I have had two pairs sent as a replacement pair and both right boots have a sealing issue as they were not glued properly. I am a first time Keen customer and although I love these boots, I am very disappointed in the production of these boots, namely with incomplete sealing in the outside heel portion of the boot. I am hesitant in getting another pair, especially when it comes to ordering online. I cannot say whether I would recommend as I received two defective pairs in the mail. They should be inspected before being shipped to the customer. My last review didn’t make it online, but I hope this one does as this issue needs to be addressed.
Thank you for reaching out and letting us know that this has been a reoccurring experience for you. This is unusual and alarming, so we have passed this insight to our quality assurance team. A KEEN expert will be reaching out to you via email today to help and provide you with a proper solution.
Be very careful buying this product. My son has the men’s version and the continently lasted just past the 1 year warranty mark before the material around the toe box started to crack and flake away. Light use, stored indoors, well taken care of, boots this expensive should last longer than that.
My wife has had three consecutive pairs of size 6 Targhee II and never had foot soreness or blisters. When the last pair of IIs were wearing out, she was interested to try the Targhee III because they are described as offering more support. Unfortunately she finds the fit very different, and on a long hike had painful rubbing at heel and ankle leading to severe deep blisters that took weeks to heal. They are tolerable for short walks but still uncomfortable and will be no se for extended wear - a waste of money. I just ordered a new pair of the Targhee II for her, hoping that they will again offer the comfort that she had with her previous pairs.

I've had 4 pairs of Targhee boots and I love them. They're my all around every day shoe. I wear them for hiking, work, walks. I have wide feet so I've struggled finding a sturdy woman's shoe that doesn't pinch the balls of my feet. These are so comfortable. They move well. They're sturdy enough for trails but I also use them to work out in. I just wish they lasted longer. I can't get a pair to go more than 10-11 months before the tread separates from the sole and the leather on the top of the toe box where it flexes separates from the mesh. That all said, I continue to buy Keen's because they remain one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever had.
What can I say? These are a major NO. I had Targhee II's that I was looking to replace. The Targhee III is wider and longer and feels very sloppy on. The inside fabric has gone down in quality. They fit more like my bulky Keen snow boots than the Targhee II's. The Targhees were never much good for hiking because they don't have enough ankle support, IMO—I use them around town in cooler weather—but my feet move all around in this model. I do like color, but that's about it. I wish I had purchased something else, but these seemed the right fit in the store. I'm very unhappy that I'll be stuck with wearing a sloppy shoe until they wear out.
I am a delivery driver and targhee is all i wear ive even recommended and got two of my coworkers to start wearing keens. The best shoe I've worn so far, theyre instantly comfortable no breaking them in. Theyre lightweight so my feet never hurt and my legs don't get tired from all the walking and jumping in and out of my truck. And they look good and match my uniform well. I think theyre the perfect shoe for the type of job I have. I get a new pair every year as the tread wears away because i walk 15,000 to 25,000 steps a day across all different types of surfaces, mainly pavement. I honestly cant say enough good things about this shoe im so happy i found keen
As someone with wide feet and high arches, I have always loved Keen boots for their wide toebox and grippy soles, they have served me well on many long hikes and backpacking trips. I have never needed much of a break-in period for them - I can usually just hike in them out of the box, and as long as I'm wearing good socks, I don't get blisters. However with the past couple pairs I have owned, I've had issues with the soles of the boot detaching. My current pair is the Targhee III, and after about a year of moderate use, the sole of one of the boots is detaching at the heel and all along the sides, which reduces traction and water proofing. I plan on just glueing the sole back on to see if that will get some more life out of them, but if it doesn't work I'm afraid I'll have to find a different brand of boot to purchase.
I had a pair of Keen hiking boots for years that held up really well. They were getting worn, so I decided to replace them. I bought these boots in late 2019. I was disappointed that the mesh/black thread started fraying almost immediately where the tongue attaches. For now it is just a cosmetic issue. After less than a year, the tread started separating from the sole of the boot. Small stones get stuck in between. They still seem to be waterproof, so that's a plus. I'm concerned that these problems will get worse. I continue to wear them because they are very comfortable. Can someone at Keen advise me what to do?
Oh no! Thank you for writing this review and letting us know about this! We build KEEN boots to last, but like with everything, from time to time unusual failures can occur. In cases like this, we always want to make things right! We stand behind every KEEN boot with a one-year warranty to cover failures resulting from a manufacturing defect. While it sounds like this pair may be slightly older than one year, we're happy to review a claim. We encourage you to create a warranty claim by following the link below, so we can gather more information and work to provide you with a proper solution. https://www.keenfootwear.com/warranty/
I have purchased several pairs of this boot (or sometimes the shoe) over the past 5 years or so. It was a really good work boot for a long time. Definitely waterproof for wet mornings & mucky corrals. The waterproof coating will wear off eventually, but it lasts a good long time. But on the last few pairs, the sole begins to peel away from the rest of the boot, sometimes causing a tripping hazard. I returned one pair and Keen kindly replaced them, but it's becoming a regular issue on this particular style. I'm also not a fan of the new insoles. They are not as comfortable as the old ones. The only reason I keep ordering & don't switch to a different brand is because I know these fit & are waterproof and we live so far from anyplace to try on a new brand. The picture isn't from the most recent pair I bought, but this is what I expect this new pair to do too.
I finally wore my old pair out parter hiking miles and miles in the Adirondacks. They had excellent grip for the massive rock slabs and were very comfortable. I replaced them because I was starting to get blisters and the inside was worn out. It was time to retire them even though the bottoms were still quite grippy! The new pair doesn’t grip at all and I have to watch my footing very carefully because of this... they slow me down. My feet blister after every hike, no matter how long or short. Bottom line, the new ones are not like my old ones and don’t work for me. I’m looking into other brands.
