Durable ski poles offering a lot of functionality!

Received free product

I used these poles for a recent snowshoeing trip in the UP of Michigan. The flick lock adjustment knobs were crucial for allowing quick height changes without removing gloves. Removable snow baskets allow for year round use. The aluminum shafts provide a durable structure while keeping the poles lightweight. Would highly recommend for snow sports including skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking.

A great balance for a do-everything ski pole

Received free product

These Ski Poles are a great backcountry or resort ski pole that can achieve that balance of toughness, adjustability, and weight. Solid enough under heavy use at a resort but lightweight for many miles of backcountry exploration—thus truly a one-pole quiver. Besides, the Traverse just looks good. Its modern look surely makes a great addition to anyone on the mountain. But just one little thing to mention, so you don't have the same mishap I did. Here's the lowdown on what I'm thinking: What I Like Durability: These poles are built to take on rough backcountry terrain and the rigors of resort skiing. The aluminum construction handles dings and scrapes without compromising performance. Adjustability: The FlickLock system is very intuitive and secure, allowing the length to be adjusted very fast and easily on the go. Especially useful when frequently moving between steep ascents, traverses, and descents. Weight: They balance perfectly to feel light enough for long backcountry tours but still robust enough for resort skiing; this makes them great all-around skis. Comfort: The foam grips are comfortable, even on long days of use, while the adjustable straps are well-padded to help alleviate fatigue on uphill climbs or aggressive downhill skiing. Packability: They collapse compactly in their three-piece design and are thus easy to stow on a pack during bootpacks or descents. Aesthetics: Not only do these poles perform well, but they also look great. The sleek, modern design adds some style to your ski kit. Integrated tooling: Haven't had to use this yet, but I love that the tooling is integrated in the pole. You can forget your multitool, but you won't forget your pole. This might become my new mandatory feature for backcountry poles. A Word of Caution One problem I had was losing a basket when I didn't screw it in all the way in a rush. If you don't install the baskets securely, they can come loose during use, especially in deeper snow. Once I had properly screwed the baskets in, they stayed put and didn't move at all. That said, I was able to order replacement baskets. Tip: Screw in your baskets before you head out, especially if you're in a rush. What Could Be Better Weight (for some): While light for a three-piece pole, it's not the lightest. Grip Extensions: Grips are super comfortable, and I appreciate the right/left ergonomics but could have an extension that would make it more comfortable for the hands while doing steeper sidehill traverses—it would be nice if added to future designs. Bottom Line The Black Diamond Traverse 3 Ski Poles are a dependable and versatile choice for skiers who split their time between resort and backcountry skiing. Their rugged construction, excellent adjustability, sleek design, and comfortable feel make them a worthy investment. Just be sure to screw the baskets in tightly to avoid losing one on the mountain! Highly recommended!

Solid ski poles

Received free product

These are great poles for the price. They have held up well over a couple of uses. I particularly like how lightweight they are and how small they collapse to. My only complaint, which is true of other black diamond poles I've had, is that the baskets are difficult to get on.

Sturdy, easy to use, easy to pack away

Received free product

The poles are heavier than I would prefer, however, it makes up for it by being very sturdy. This is helpful with touring when putting weight on them whenever skis or splitboard slips, especially while traversing in a bowl. It collapses to be quite short, very helpful since I splitboard and need to pack away on my ride down. It's easy to use when adjusting the heights, which is primo when you're moving through uneven terrain. All in all would recommend even if they are just slightly more heavier than what I've been used to, the benefits of these poles are worth it.

Work well for splitboarding

I used these Splitboarding the other day and was quite pleased with these poles. The locking mechanism is solid and not too difficult to adjust with thick mittens. Unfortunately, I have to remove the baskets when packing the poles in my bag for descents. I haven’t yet figured out the basket situation; the baskets look like the screw on and seem to stay in place, but I’m nervous one is going to falloff, but so far so good.

Poles great. Baskets don't stay on.

These poles themselves are great; they have good flex, are lightweight, and stow comfortably in a side pack pocket. Unfortunately, the basket threads are not well machined resulting in almost-certain loss of baskets under any kind of snow.

perfect packed size

I bought the Traverse 3 section poles so they would easily fit in my pack for alpine climbing. i wish they came with trekking baskets to pack even smaller but not a big deal with snowflake style.

As a ski resort photographer

As a ski resort photographer I am out everyday in the winter season. These poles come with me. They are bomber, fit nicely in any pack that I am using for the day and allow me to do my job.

Great ski poles. They have

Great ski poles. They have all the things you would need for a full day either back county or on groomers. They are a little on the heavy side but that comes from being so heavy duty.
