I picked up this pack for an overnight backpacking trip. This is not a good pack for that. With only hammock, sleeping bag, camp stove and food packed it was completely full. Straps dug into my shoulders the entire 5 miles in and 5 miles out. Hip straps did little to help reduce weight. Not for tall/big people even with a Large. This pack is great for day trip but no overnight. Will return and get a 50L+ pack.
I was super excited to get this bag during the Labor Day sale. I was looking for an “in between” bag to supplement my Osprey Talon22 and Gregory Paragon58. Unfortunately, it missed the marked in too many areas. The Pros: Great looking bag, premium rip stop fabric, and it’s VERY spacious. The Cons: Useless hip belt. With my 19-20” torso, after the first 2 miles of a 4mile hike I gave up on the hip belt. It did not take any load off the shoulders no matter how many adjustments I made. Additionally, tensioning the belt from the middle buckle, vs the two ends of the hip belt proved difficult to make it snug (like I can with my Osprey and Gregory). I hiked the last 2 miles without the belt and had about 14lbs in the bag and by the end, the should straps were digging in. The front stash pocket. The rip stop fabric in between the mesh really limits its capacity. I was able to shove my rain jacket, bug and sunscreen in it, but it was beginning to push back and occupy space within the main compartment. The back panel “vents” are ineffective, but I was kind of expecting that result. Was hoping for more, but unfortunately will be sending this one back.
I bought this pack to replace a similar pack. Which turned out to be more of a work/ computer bag. This Big Agnes Ditch Rider 32L is just what I’ve been looking for. It packs larger than it looks and has numerous attachment points. I did a 3 nighter on the SHT and it preformed great. . Sheds water very well And sits on the hips very well as well. Can’t say enough good things about this pack. One possible con is that there’s good webbing on the front side but no tie downs straps. And they are very tight to the pack. Hard to use. Overall a great addition to my gear room. Highly recommended.
Used this pack once so far and it met all of my performance criteria. I only need to work on securing my trekking poles to the side of the pack.
Great bag! Ultra light weight and very durable material
