Asolo is my go to brand for boot fit, comfort, and quality. So I’m a little biased! But I have good reasons! I do… First is quality. This is a family owned business that takes quality seriously. These boots don’t disappoint on quality, but I suspect the nylon mesh construction is less than ideal for extended snow exposure - so the new model is solid leather. For my purposes the nylon is fine. I also have the winter sneaker boot with nylon fabric that works great but is a little tight with thick socks. Second is fit. Asolo boots fit me great as do Lange ski boots. They will require some breaking in before they are supple enough for a snug all over fit. Third is the sole material. Only Vibram for me. These sport the special ice sole. While nothing is perfect on ice, these soles do give you a little extra confidence. The avalanche transponder is an interesting benefit… just in case you’re buried under a roof load of snow while walking home from the resort pub? Since they discontinued this model you might find a good deal. My size sells out quickly so I ended up paying full price - I didn’t want the weight and long break in time of full leather uppers that they put on the new model.
