BUY THIS STOVE - The WhisperLite is the best stove on the market. I've had mine for over 20 years and 100+ and it's still working great--I haven't had to repair anything on it. If you're doing any actually cooking in the backcountry or frontcountry, this is the stove you want. You can fit a kettle or a pan on it and comfortably cook. You can even sautee on. I use it when I am cooking trout in the backcountry. I've even used my cast iron on it and it works great. It sits on a flat surface, like the ground, packed snow, a picnic table, etc., and is stable to cook with. The great thing about this stove is it uses white gas. It's cheap, and you use a reusable container. You also store it non-pressurized, so you don't have to worry about banging it up. I see people buying boxes of the one-time-use canisters for jetboils for extended trips, and it makes way more sense to use the WhisperLite. You can get a ton of burns out of white gas. White gas can also be a great fire starter in a pinch. I highly recommend buying this stove. Long-term, it's the better investment.
As a guide in Algonquin, Himalaya, Antarctica,Baffin Island and more MSR stoves have always been my go to stove. The WhisperLite is so easy to use, versatile, and reliable. If you are out for the weekend or 50 days you can count on this stove.
Excellent stove, the directions that come with are very helpful for someone new to this type of stove.
I haven't used the stove yet but based this review on the stove's reputation.
Does the job, hold enough fuel for 5 plus days for me, and looks cool
