These are my favorite boots. I have purchased three pairs of them over the years. They are so incredibly comfortable and warm. I have had no issues with leakage as the other reviewer mentioned. My only tiny complaint is that the sole is not quite durable enough, but I think that is unavoidable given the fact that the soft sole material was probably chosen to give great traction in snow and ice. I hike in the snow a lot and need nothing more on my feet than these boots and some thick socks
Bought these in Feb 2024. The traction on ice is great! but the waterproofing only lasted 7 months. First time hiking in the rain this fall the boots leaked so bad my feet were soaking wet in an hour. When I got home I stuffed the boots with paper towel and put them in the sink with 5" of water. After 15min in the water the paper towel was soaking wet. Despite this the ice traction!! and fit of the boots is so good that I go another pair from Merrell under warranty.
I absolutely loved these boots! I bought them specifically for a non-hiking trip to Europe this year, but I wanted something with insulation and was waterproof. The fit was perfect—I have bad feet, so that was most important. My feet never got cold, so insulation was plenty. When we did get rain/snow, no issues with being waterproof or the grip of the soles.
The best winter cycling boots I've found. While other people find the soles wear fast, when I'm biking in sub-zero temperatures, this is a non-issue as my feet don't touch the ground. The advantage these boots have is that they are insulted with 200 grams, which keep my toes toasty at sub-zero temps, and are very light weight.
The simple fact is that these boots have the best grip of any boots I have ever worn. I wore these boots for the first time on the same trails I had been hiking in my Asolo boots. Now, let me be clear, I really like my Asolo boots, but they don't hold a candle to the grip the Merrell Thermo Chill boots have. I am sure this was the result of formulating the rubber in the soles to work well in ice and snow, and that the longevity of the boots will not match the regular rubber soles, but who cares? I trudge up and down loose trails with newfound confidence. Match all this with out-of-the-box comfort matching my broken-in boots and I am completely sold on these boots. By the way, on my encouragement, my wife now has a pair of these Merrells and loves them as much as I do.
I love these boots. I didn't used them for hiking but doing errands or shoveling snow, or just walking around the neighborhood in cold temps, they are absolutely amazing. Lightweight and warm and comfortable.
My folks use to joke I had canoe for feet as I was growing up. It's always been a challenge to find extra wide footwear that performs as describe and are comfortable. This have hit all the marks. I've used them snowshoeing and at a recent scout "rain-o-ree". They have kept my feet dry, warm, and comfortable. Now, we shall see how long they last in usage for scouting events and hikes.
The boots are extremely uncomfortable on my left foot but are perfect on my right which makes me believe they are defective. I got them a few month back but moved, so I just unpacked them and wore them for the very first time. I assume the warranty is over or I would exchange them. This was my first time buying shoes without trying them on and I will probably never do it again.
These Merrell were easily worn and comfortable right out of the box. I’ve had no problem fit wise on hikes. Worn these on 10-15 degree day in snow kept my feet warm. The sole is softer than a regular hiking shoe which may be a concern for wear or abrasive resistance but no problems at this time.
These are great boots and a great price! I have been looking for a warm waterproof boot that are not too heavy. These are perfect and the traction is effective on the ice and snow.
