I admit I use my footwear hard. Really nice when I find a good fit like these GTXs' , really great on rock. Living in southern Utah there is a lot of sand. After about 6 mos. of intermittent use the shoes developed lumps along the inside edges of the soles. I was sure it was due to mid sole collapse. Took out the liners looking for rocks /sand whatever and found nothing. Threw them out as they were unwearable. But I wanted to understand what had deteriorated so badly. Pulled the shoes out of the trash and ran one through the band saw. Wow! Discovered pockets of sand between the sole and gortex liner. No way to remove without a band saw. Guess you could get after it with a razor knife but end result would be the same. Unusable! TOO BAD.

Bought these shoes with high expectations. The shoes are comfortable right out of the box. Also, they are lightweight and not clunky like a lot of Teva hiking shoes. I really wanted to like them, but the back of the shoe would slide up and down my heel as I walked. I tried tightening the laces, which is difficult because the laces are so short, but that only made the shoes uncomfortable. I like everything about the shoes except the heel slippage. I'm returning them.
