Fine bag, quality suspension system

Solid marks for fit and finish as usual with Mammut gear. I've been using the bag for everything from AIARE training, Backcountry touring, and my training hikes. The Spine suspension system really does exactly as advertised, carry a surprisingly heavy load with ease. The tradeoff is it is not a light bag, so go smaller and go without the Spine tech if you are really looking to shave ounces/lbs. Wouldn't hesitate to throw a lot of weight in the pack and go for days. FYI, just barely fits the Barryvox Avi Light kit (shovel and 280cm probe) in the special avi pocket, but it does fit. Enjoy

“0ne size” fits all?

This pack has everything. Perhaps too much. The numerous and often hidden compartments become repositories for never to be seen again items. Annoying straps everywhere. Locating gear is compounded by the cavernous black interior. For these reasons and for the one all important one of fit, I decided to return the pack. I am 5’ 5” tall. This “ one size” bag hung below my butt rather than above at my lower back. Very annoying and interfering with hiking.

Very comfortable, questionable material choices

This bag can carry a lot of weight comfortably and is probably one of the most comfortable bags I've used. There are a lot of features that are very useful, but some things that fall short. Most of the bag is made of very thick material, except for the top opening, which is quite thin and weak. I managed to rip off a segment of the top opening from the rest of the bag just by stuffing some gear inside because of this. The buckles for the tool holders are also a little difficult to use sometimes being very small and prone to getting snow stuck inside them. The hip belt is extremely comfortable, and as such is not removable and bulky. This puts it in the way when wearing a harness and climbing. This is a great pack for winter hiking or routes where you don't need quick access to your gear loops, and you don't tend to abuse your bags

I wanted to like this pack

Don’t get me wrong, this pack is well built, good looking and I really like the features. It just didn’t fit me like I wanted it to. Maybe I am just too broad chested for this pack, but it really dug into my armpits. I tried to adjust it every possible way but just couldn’t get it to fit me right without rubbing my armpit/chest area. I was disappointed that I could not get it to work for me, but I’m sure it’ll work for smaller framed individuals.

I've worn this pack on ski tours, XC ski trips, and overnight backpacking trips and it is consistently one of the most comfortable packs I have ever owned. The full access front zip is extremely convenient and the pack has proven to be very durable. My favorite feature is undoubtedly the Active Spine weight shifting system built into the hip belt and shoulder straps. My only complaint is that I wish there was a size between the 35L and the 50L.

fantastic, functional pack for the mountains!

I've only had this pack a short time but it seems indestructible! Highly waterproof, smart attachment for ice axes and loops to attach snowshoes. You can access the pack's rear zipper without removing lashed on gear! You can access your ice ax without removing gear as well! Very happy with this bag for my snow climbing adventures!

Great pack!

I bought this pack for an 11-day Kilimanjaro climb. This pack served me well. It's very easy to adjust to fit, which was great, and it is super comfortable. Evenly distributed weight and the active spine tech really cut down on back soreness and hip soreness, which was critical for me on such a long hike. Day after day of hiking for 6-8 hours, I felt great at the end of the hiking day and was able to get good rest at night, increasing my summit chances. The main compartment was easy to access with a large zippered front access flap, and top access to the same compartment. It held my 3L CamelBak bladder well, and the waist belt pocket came in handy for storing snacks. The left shoulder strap also has a low profile pocket integrated into the outside of it, which was a great place for storing electrolyte powders. The stitching and construction of the pack is robust. This pack will no doubt serve me well for years to come. I highly recommend this pack to anyone who is looking for top quality and top comfort.
