Very Handy for Car Camping
I really didn't think I'd have a reason to pick up a stove like this, but after car camping this winter a dozen or so times in varying weather conditions I ended up buying one. One of the reasons I've come to love using this for camping is due to just how much heat is lost and how hard it can be to keep a fire going in a normal fire pit. With this, I can collect a pile of branches and - if I position the stove just right - I have excellent, focused heat right at my feet when sitting in a camp chair. The pile of sticks I included in a picture lasted about 2.5 hours. Another great thing with this stove is that you can buy a bag of heating pellets and have it handy in case everything is too wet or I want a quick fire in the morning when it's cold and I don't wan to collect wood. The bottom of the stove does not get hot, do you can just clear a little area and set it right down on the ground. I also like that you can just skip the ashes out when done and you don't have to worry about burying or dousing a large campfire. The last thing I really enjoy at the patterns from the fire since it's a gasification stove. I've included a picture a an example. One thing to keep in mind though is that you have to constantly feed the stove. I actually don't mind this, a I find it to be a relaxing way to pass the time.
The XL is the Perfect Size

Pellets burn beautifully and consistently, but also crazy fast (normal with smokeless fire pits). The stand is great. I do wish the grate was removable for more thorough cleaning (and eventual replacement), but other than that, it’s a fantastic little fire pit. Planning on taking it camping too!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Mesa XL. It's the perfect size for portable heat and fun. It also cools down fairly quickly. So if you are on a schedule you can somewhat plan on timing the cool down. Love it. Just wish there was a way to put it out if you needed so quickly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve owned a fire pit for years…. Live a good fire, don’t like the smoke or the clean up after. The Mesa XL is perfect!! Great flamage - virtually smokeless. I’m averaging 35-40 burn time on the initial load of pellets. I purchased a heat diffuser that certainly aids in spreading some heat around. For its size, it’s amazing! Certainly a good investment.

I paid the extra to have it engraved and it's beautiful. I am now contemplating getting the Mesa XL. I also purchased the heat deflector with it and well worth it.

It’s easy to use and we chopped up our own wood for burning since we seem to always have too much from our tree trimming! If you are undecided, think no more.
