Good taste but packaging was flawed.

First the flavor is good but not great. So I couldnt give it five stars on that merit. 4 stars. Second, when trying to open it the top seal above the resealable "ziplock" was too close. So when I tour open the top, it wasnt open. I had to uses scissors to cut very close above the "zliplock" re-sealer to be able to open the package. This is a 2 - star experience since if I didnt have a scissors it would have been a really bad time out camping. So to average it out I give it 4 stars.

excellent quality

enough spicy kick for me, not too spicy for my more bland sister (I don't think she'll ever read this haha) and cooked completely at 9k feet altitude. which to me altitude is the biggest obstacle for backpacking fare

Good value

I've been trying different brands sold by REI, and this is the first from Alpine that I have tried. I like it. It re-hydrated well in the bag following directions on the package, and was very well spiced and tasty.

Too spicy

Meh. Single note of spice flavor. Couldn't taste anything but strong hot spices. Tastes nothing like Jambalaya. We threw it out after eating about 1/2

No name please

Good butt not the next day..

Good taste and texture of food. Butt…Something in the seasoning or de-hydrating process left me gassy the next morning and all the next day!

Used on a 4 day backpacking trip through the Grand Canyon. Tasted great. much better with less than the recommended amount of water.
