Best Mexican yet

This is a fantastic freeze-dried rendition of chilaquiles verdes which I consider myself a gringo connoisseur of thanks to frequent trips to Mexico for in-law visits. If you put a fried egg on top of them you'd think you were in a restaurant. Just slightly spicy, great flavors, great consistency, and nothing stayed firm/unhydrated. While this is sold as a 2-person meal, of course I ate it all at 570 calories after a day of backpacking - I'm not sure where they come up with the portion sizes. If I was going to improve it, I'd put the tortilla strips in a separate pouch for adding at the end so they don't get soggy, and I'd take a packet of hot sauce to increase the heat a bit. I would certainly buy this meal again without hesitation.

Chilaquiles Verdes with Carnitas Packs Flavor

The AlpineAire Foods Chilaquiles Verdes with Carnitas had a great flavor, was very good on a soft tortilla. I hiked the JMT and this meal was one of my favorites.

Hella good.

HELLA good. I'll be taking this with me on every backpacking trip. Instructions were pretty spot on, super easy. Girlfriend and I loved it, but absolutely not two servings. I ate it by myself easily, but I'm 6'4" 240.

Great flavor, horrible texture

If you like the texture of soggy tortilla chips, then this is the meal for you. Pros: It was edible, rehydrated well, spices were flavorful, and the price wasn't horrible. Cons: The tortillas should be in a separate baggy because when it rehydrates, they become a mush.

one of the best meals

Highly suggest this for backpacking! It had great flavor, variety of texture and rehydrated evenly. I was very impressed and I think this may beat out all other dozen meals I’ve tried. Will be getting again!

The taste was awesome, simply amazing flavor.

This is probably my most favorite backpacking meal, period. I pretty much sat there and said over and over how good it was until it was gone.

The best of the 4 meals I ordered. You have to be careful with the water as it is easy to turn this into a soup, but it still tastes great.

Backpacking food

It was ok, better than some, but nothing overly exciting. It filled me up.
