awful
These are possibly the worst socks we’ve ever owned. We have had plenty of wool socks from other brands- all great, thick or thin. We’ve had cotton. Great. We’ve even had some expendable ones made of who knows what from a box store. Fine. They get the job done. But these are terrible. They stretch like they aren’t even knit. They have no bounce back. And my kid has taken off her shoes only to have the sock go with it every. time. I tried washing them to tighten them up, and so now they can’t be returned, but if I could, I would. Please save your money and buy literally even one pair (though you could get a few) of a good brand rather than buy these. Maybe they’re warm. I don’t know. Because if they don’t stay up or on, it doesn’t matter.
Great!
Great socks for my kids, used them fall and winter in NYC. Machine washed and dried and didn't seem to shrink much.
Great socks! But not at full price.
I bought 3 sets of 4 pairs for my twin 3 year olds and they work great. Bought them on sale for more than half off. Worth it, however, I would not pay full price. Currently at 4 years old, son wears them without complaint, twin daughter complains about how tight they are (just above her ankle Towards her calves). They have held up and are durable. We typically wash cold and line dry, so no shrinking or stretching observed so far. Would buy them again on super sale in a larger size, but missed my chance this year.
Ok so far, but too big for toddlers
Just did a quick try on so far, but they seem to be decent quality wool socks. Myself and my toddler do not find them at all itchy, and as a knitter, I’ve had broad experience with different sheep breeds, including the itchy ones. I’d imagine these are a merino blend fabric, which is a very soft wool. They went through a normal cold wash and machine dry and seem to be just fine. That said, I have two main gripes: 1- the smallest size is still huge on my kiddo who wears a 7/8 *toddler* sized shoe. I don’t understand why REI doesn’t seem to carry any specifically toddler sized socks, only *kid* sized socks. 2- the plastic t-shaped tag holding the socks together wormed its way into the looped stitching, creating what I’m sure will be future holes. I really wish REI/the manufacturer pivoted to a more sustainable way to attach tags to clothes that also doesn’t ruin the fabric.
Toasty socks to enjoy cold winter days in or outsi
These socks are well made and will be perfect on cold mornings
