Love the fabric, fit & style. A few changes needed
I love the fabric, fit & style. I boil like to see Salomon designers add 2 features to the Sense Aero 7" short: 1) Add a waistband drawstring. 2) Change the liner from a brief to a boxer style. One other thing to note: When using the side pockets, there's a large open space between the outer short and the liner which means you could drop your gel or keys straight through your shorts to the ground and not even know it. (even more likely when fatigued doing an ultra). Thankfully this problem cannot occur with the front pocket. With a few design adjustments this would be an absolutely amazing short!!
Way tighter than you would expect
Don’t know if I can wear these in public. Might be a treadmill short. Feel a little bit like sexy Ned Flanders.
Thank you for your feedback We understand that finding the right fit and style can be a personal experience, and we’re sorry to hear these didn’t feel quite right Please let us know should you need any assistance.
Get Rid Of The Liner and Then 5 Stars
I love Salomon trail running shoes and wanted to give the shorts a go. I like the longer 7" option and was impressed with the front very useable pockets for placing fuel. This allows me to carry a handheld bottle or two and still access my gels and snacks. It also allowed my to not rely on a vest for shorter training runs or on events that aid stations were plenty. They are lightweight, fast drying and cool. The one thing they state is the brief liner doesn't allow chaffing. Sorry, these are not non chaffing. I even wore a pair of boxer style liners and still got chaffed on a 12 mile run. I really don't understand why manufacturers are not getting the hint that these brief liners cause us problems. Get rid of the brief and put in a boxer liner or just no liner at all.
Super trail race shorts
Reimagining running shorts for sure from the fabric to fit to pockets/features. Salomon Sense Aero are my lightest & coolest shorts by far! I’ve tested them in two 50km mountain runs and will use them in my upcoming mountain 100miler. Super comfortable with zero chafing and the pockets work great for me. Maybe not a cool / cold weather short but I’ll be using them for a good part of the year. Fabric is very light so I wouldn’t use them bushwhacking/heavy brush.
Best trail running shorts
Very happy with these shorts. I used to primarily use 2in1s for ultra races, as those would work better for me in dealing with chuffing. I decided to try these shorts and they are much lighter that 2in1s, no chuffing, much better for the hot weather. Considering buying another pair. I thing to note is that I haven’t found pockets to be very useful, but this is purely personal preference - I use a vest for nutrition and small things
comfy with funky sizing
my 1st pair was a large (my usual size at 6'3) but the liner felt super baggy (160 lbs) and there are no drawstrings. I bought a medium and it's a little snug while still comfy. yet to race in my mediums, but I plan on running trail races in them. the medium feels way shorter than the large but both are 7" shorts.
Decent
Objectively a great short, but the sizing is a little misleading. I'm 5'9/175lb and these are a little tight after the first few washes. Certainty still wearable but buyer beware, especially if you're well-endowed. Also, they do not have a 7" inseam. They're probably closer to 5".
We appreciate your feedback regarding this matter. Comments are really important to us. This inquiry will be passed to our design team.
Favourite shorts for trail running
Had these last year and was so pleased to see them back in stock. Best running shorts I’ve had. Super comfy and handy pocket at the front which even my large iPhone 14 pro max fits in, perfect shorts
Sense Aero shorts
Used on several training runs during the hot weather, extremely comfortable and the pockets work well with my gels etc not bouncing about. Also quick drying , would recommend.
Comfort and utility
Great shorts . I’ve liked all the sense shorts and this new iteration is no exception. Extra side pockets a welcome addition.
