All around amazing pack for the price

A beautiful pack with amazing back support and a lot of room for your gear. spacious waist pockets for stuff you need to get to quickly and overall my favorite pack. I use it for a day pack/weekend pack now a lot of people complain that the pack doesn’t come with a “mesh or shock cord pocket” on the back of the pack. I just bought some shock cord and made one myself very easy to rig one up. Overall I’ve had no complaints it has a lot of adjustments you can make to fit you perfectly and me personally it’s been more comfortable than the more expensive packs that osprey offers.

Good starter standard backpack

It does the job. It’s your standard tube to stuff gear into. Has the usual adjustment straps that are standard for most backpacks. Nothing overall bad about it. I like osprey stuff and their lifetime guarantee. I like that the hip belt pockets are big compared to other packs I’ve used. Would like it to have an outer mesh stretch pocket but you can make your own shock cord webbing if you really need it. I just prefer the stretchy pocket. Can’t speak to its durability. It’s still new to us and hasn’t been on enough trips yet.

Great pack for solo weekend backpacking

I got this to get into backpacking with, and I have loved it. The pack is comfortable once properly adjusted. The adjustments are easy to do as one person. Fully loaded, the pack was about 32 lbs with all my gear in it, and it did a good job transferring the weight onto my hips instead of my back. The mesh vent on the back was sufficient in allowing airflow to avoid getting sweaty. I believe it is compatible with a hydration bladder, but I just use a nalgene in the side pouches. I appreciate that the side pouches are done so that you can pull water bottles out either straight up, or forward, which I found to be easier while wearing the pack. It's a simple pack in terms of storage, but there's nothing wrong with that. The sleeping bag compartment is handy, and it is easy to adjust depending on the size of your bag. As a solo backpacker, I found this great for weekend trips. I could easily fit my clothes, stove, tent, toiletries, and food in here. I even had room to pack a hammock in addition to my tent. There are not drawstrings/bungee on the front, but there are loops that would be easy to use if you wanted to attach some yourself.

Great Bag

It’s a great bag. And for 50L it’s a really good price as well. I do wish it had an exterior pocket on the front rather than the cord loops. But that’s not that big of a deal. The cord loops are fine as long as you wrap you cord well. Also there is no mesh pocket on the inside of the top flap portion. But that’s fine as well since you have waist loop pouches. But very durable and well put together. Osprey bags are top tier.

REI sent me the complete wrong product -- a bag with a baby carrier attached. I asked for a fix a week ago -- they haven't responded. This is very close to ruining my plans of hiking in the Adirondacks. I heard very good things about REI, unfortunately this is a very poor start to my relationship with the company.

Great for 3-4 days hikes.

I wish it had a mesh pocket on the front, but otherwise a very comfortable pack with good load capability. For the price, I don't think you'll find another pack with this quality and durability, to say nothing of Osprey's warranty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love it! We sell them at my work so I’ve been trying them all on one by one and I love the simplicity of the rook. Everything you need, nothing you don’t, light, breezy, blue and steezy!

I have used the pack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the pack on 1 trip of 10 miles. I am giving it 4 stars only because I am still trying to get the fit right. If I can figure that out, hands down 5 stars!
