Solid soles meant for adventuring
Received a pair of these sandals and they got me so excited for the spring and summer! I loved the fact that they have vibram soles - I feel so confidently whenever i adventure in them, especially on so many terrains: rocky, mulchy, moist, or even in the water. My favorite aspect was how adjustable the shoes were: tightening the top straps of my shoe, the heel. It was helpful to center my foot and align it over the sole’s arch support. The one concern I have is because I have low arches; just wearing them in could solve it - ideally want to avoid blisters. Otherwise, excited for a new pair that I can bring camping and adventuring at the river!
My Forever Chanclas
I’ve been needing new chanclas for about two years now and was looking for something comfortable and durable because I want to walk on pavement and trails and dirt. I walk a lot for work and outside. At first they hurt a bit but I think my feet just needed to get used to it. Super comfortable now and I wear them EVERYWHERE. I am a 7.5 women’s wide and the size 7 fit perfectly. Highly recommend. This chancla-wearing Latina gives TWO THUNBS WAY UP
Favorite camp/trail shoes (and all summer shoes)
I bought these to take backpacking or to wear in camp. But I end up wearing them all summer. Excellent traction for water crossings or just hopping around rocks and exploring. They aren't the lightest camp shoes but they're great to have when I want to take off my boots and not be bound to camp. I wear them for my paddling sports too! They did take some time to break in (mostly the toe triangle took some getting used to, as well as the straps softening/molding to the feet.) But now I will live in them during the summer months. I've had mine for about three years and they are in excellent shape, I'm glad to see REI carrying these.
awesome
They are standing the test of time! Worn them pretty much everyday for the past 6 months now! They definitely feel awkward at first. You just have to get used to them and for them to break in (get used to you). I usually wear a size 11 or 11.5 depending on the shoe shape. I got 11 in these because there are no half sizes. They felt maybe just a little bit too small at first then I got used to them and they broke in after 2 or three days of wearing them and they ended up being perfect. Don’t let your mind deceive you! Haha these are great! Especially if you’re a minimalist and it feels good to have your feet out in the open air.
Highly Adjustable
These sandals are very adjustable so you can get them to fit perfectly to your foot. They stay put on your feet when you're out and about as well without needing to be messed with. The only gripe I have is that the material/loop between the toes is a bit uncomfortable and takes some getting used to.
Comfortable, quality, needs to be broken in
IMPORTANT: These sandals take a full 2-3 weeks of moderate use to break in. The sandals seem to be built well. I imagine the markup must be fairly high, these are foam, rubber, and plastic after all. If they last a long time and are repairable like Barefoot claims then I’ll be happy. They are extremely comfortable once broken in. The worst part of these sandals is that it can be hard to get both straps adjusted to the exact same length. One will feel looser without some effort.
Great sandals for hiking
I received this product for free in exchange for an honest review. These sandals perform so well on the trails. They are comfortable up and downhill and did not have any major hotspots even in their maiden voyage. The strap between the toes is the worst of it, and that minor discomfort went away for me with proper sizing of the sandal length via the strap that goes behind the ankle. The sandals have great grip and I felt confident with every step since I had such great lockdown. They're low to the ground, and they do seem to collect more debris underfoot than my other sandals -- but you just need to know what terrain works best for this shoe. i.e. avoid gravel. I am a solid 7.5 womens shoe size, and I generally size down in sandals, but I'd recommend sizing up with this one. I like them enough to buy them in the correct size!
The only pair of casual summer sandals needed!
These replaced an older pair of Keen "Teva-like" sandals that gave me horrible blisters.I looove them. I am usually and 8-8.5 in shoes and the 8 fit perfectly and the widest part of my foot was still secure on the footbed. For reference, when I buy Birkenstocks I find a 38 Regular fits my foot best.I think these will be replacing my experiments in recovery slides/flops and Birkenstocks for the summer. Wish I would have found these earlier!
Great adventure Sandals
Great sandals. Love the sole, extremely supportive. The t-strap is great but I’m undecided about the rope between my toe. Curious to see if it breaks in and becomes softer but it’s a little uncomfortable for long wear. These run wider than chacos (yay cause I can wear chacos) and I wore the same size as in my Tevas.
Awesome -- but old school comittment
I bought these because Tevas quality control over the last 15 years has been abysmal for the price. After researching sandles I decided to try these and they've been awesome. They're incredibly well built and designed. They can be re-soled. They provide phenomenal support but still conform perfectly to your foot over time. But understand these sandles are not touchy feely or instand these are not out of the box comfort. The break in is substantial much like an old school pair of leather boots and shoes and you have to commit to that and take that break in period seriously. It took almost 3 months of slowing ramping up the time I was wearing them to finally conform to my foot. So just like a good pair of leather boots these are a committment but if you take the time and have patience these sandles will years and years of use and being able to be resoled is a game changer. Your footbed will stay the same and you'll just have a new tread. No rebreaking them in. Also definitely use their sizing technique and templates to determine your size range. Don't just go with your normal size. Print out the sizes and use the templates to determine. Hands down the best outdoor sandles on the market.
