In one word: versatile!

Blocks enough wind, sheds enough rain, and provides enough insulation to use as an outer layer for cool weather aerobic pursuits in the PNW; breathes well enough to use as a colder-weather midlayer under a hardshell. I prefer wool as a next-to-skin layer, but this one doesn't feel clammy worn over a short-sleeve tee. I'm very happy with this hoody, and it quickly found its place in my rotation. I'm consistently a large in Black Diamond jackets, but I wish this was cut a bit trimmer. Five stars otherwise. If I was ordering again, I might have tried the medium and hoped the sleeves were long enough.

Poufter Purple CoEf Storm Hoody

Love this waffle-back hoody. Gorgeous color. Nice pockets I'm 5'8" 140lbs and I got the small~ it's patterned trim, it seems, and the hood fit is juuust right with or without a hat or beanie. I just use it casually around town and for bouldering in the foothils (7,500') over a T-shirt and/or under various shells or trim-fitting puffys. My performance-fit (small) Factor Hoody is more suited for technical applications than the CoEf Storm, which is WAY more fun, by far!! The "Poufter Purple" color goes great with the biG white goggle-eyed Oakley Clifdens and 80s vintage Vuarnet 028s I like to wear.

Perfect for bike touring

I am on my touring bike throughout the year at different locations on this planet and layering is the key to my comfort and safety. My Men's Coefficient Storm Hoody provides me with a perfect layer either by itself or under a shell. It has become one of my go-to pieces of gear.

Coefficient Storm Hoody

Very nice jacket that appears to be well made. Have used it only once on a ski tour this spring over a Smartwool base layer and unzipped, I didn’t overheat. I’m about 5’9” and 170#…the M jacket fits well except the arms which are too long. So far so good!

Could be great but falls a little short

I had high hopes for this jacket given the amount of 5 star reviews but it falls a little short. The biggest complaint are the wrist cuffs. . . they are flat, no taper, no elastic, nothing to them. 5 stars for not having thumb holes. I can't stand thumb holes and every other jacket has them but this is an active sport jacket it at least needs elastic wrist cuffs. The sleeves flop around and sag past my hands because there is literally nothing to the cuffs like flat, open pant cuffs. I'm going to take my jacket to a local seamstress to get a simple elastic cuff sewn in. That would make it a 5 star jacket. After only 3 weeks of wear, the front chest and shoulder are piling pretty badly. Most likely from my truck seat belt. Other than that, I have used several other brands jackets that are similar and this one is a great weight, breathes but also has some weather protection, fit is not super fitted and I can wear a heavy base layer underneath without restriction. 5'7", 165 and the medium fits plenty big. Size down if you like a slim, tapered fit.

Super light

I used it now a couple of times for hiking and climbing and its been perfect, its so light and kept me warm on cool morning hikes, also paired it with a rain shell and helped me kept super dry and warm during a very wet hike.

Love it !

I’ve been wearing it every morning this week on walks in the 35-45F range with a coefficient lt crew underneath. The wind resistance is perfect and everything breathes really well. Great hoody !

Best midlayer

The fit, quality, and level of warmth is all perfect for me. I wear this almost every day. Sometimes as a top layer with a merino 150 under it, and sometimes with a down on top of it. Love it

BD never disappoints

This mid-layer works seamlessly. I wear it 100+ days while patrolling in Eastern cold, wet, wintry & all other conditions. Light, great under-helmet hoody keeps neck warm as well. 5⭐️indeed.

Fits true to size

being a jacket, if is slightly roomier for layers underneath. Great for temps as a standalone 30f-50f. With layers underneath its works for 15-30F temps. Great jacket. Good for daily use.
