Love these shorts!!
Material is amazing. Lightweight and breathable and the perfect length. I am 5’2” and 140 lbs and the medium fits perfectly (a tiny bit on the looser side). I could probably fit a small if I wanted a tighter fit. These are good for people like me that have a thicker waist.
Wear them all day and all night too.
This is my second pair of these shorts, and I love them. Despite all the reviews about the "weird" waistband being too loose and without drawstrings, I decided to try them. They were so comfy and just the right length, and the fabric is wonderful. Yes, the waist band is rather loose, but in wearing them I realize I can move easily in them, and I don't feel that my gut has been squished all day! Because of the loose waistband, they sit right below my belly button, which is actually preferable. They are so comfy, you can even wear them as pajama bottoms!
Fit is off
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I have one of these shorts in size medium and they were too big, especially the waistband (normally I wear medium bottoms in the Columbia brand). I really liked them otherwise, so I bought another in size small. Now my problem is that the small's waistband is ok (maybe still the slightest bit loose, which is fine), but they are a little tight around the thighs for my liking because I prefer a looser fit. I have "thick" legs and butt, so this may not be an issue for others. So if you have thinner/lean legs I'd definitely recommend going down a size. If you have legs like mine, then I guess decide what fit you'd prefer.
Best Shorts Ever!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used to be a die hard tidal shorts fan and then they changed the style and fit. I was so bummed! BUT these shorts quickly replaced my love for the tidal shorts! I have 7 pair!! I work outside daily in the agriculture industry and they are the perfect style and length for me (5'2 and 170 lbs) to look professional yet functional! The large fits me perfect! I do carry most of my weight in my mid-section, so depending on where you hold your weight they could potentially run a tad big. Columbia please don't change these; I love them!!
My Favorite
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are my favorite shorts! The sizing does run small, so size down one size, but the sizing has been consistent year after year. The leg openings are wide enough to make the shorts comfortable and the length is flattering without showing your cheeks. I’m glad that I’ve purchased some of the great colors throughout the years that are no longer offered (pink, orange, macaw blue, collegiate navy, green, and nocturnal). Columbia should always offer black, grey, and navy as staple colors while introducing trending colors each year.
Nice product, Columbia bottoms do not fit me correctly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are beautiful and good quality, however, the fit just isn't right for me. I have an athletic build (not very curvy, but more firm and angular) and normally wear size 6. In the past, I've purchased "small" Columbia shorts, which fit me appropriately in the waist, but are very tight through the butt and thighs. So this time I sized up to a "medium" and now the legs/butt fit appropriately, but the waist is so loose that they will fall off if I try to run in them without holding on! At least they are consistent!
So comfortable!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE these shorts! I mostly wear athletic shorts in the summer, and I like that these have the cooling fabric. They're also not extremely "athletic" looking. I feel like you could get away with wearing them with a cute top as well as just a t-shirt or workout top. I like the key pocket in the back. As other reviews mentioned I find they run a bit big, but I didn't size down and am comfortable with them. They are slightly baggier in my normal size than I would expect, but I like that they're not too tight.
Waist elastic is just not right
The reviews said to size down. I chose my correct size anyway. The fit was right but the waist was way too loose (which is unusual for me, I’m round and usually waists are too tight). I bought a second pair that were sized down and those are short and kinda tight, but also have a loose waist. I seam ripped the top side and added a second piece of elastic that is the proper tension/length and they are *chefs kiss* perfect. I shouldn’t need to alter $40 name brand shorts for basic fit issues.
Why is the waist so big??
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the design and fabric of these shorts - they're great for being around the water and for paddleboarding. I bought them in a medium and they were great except the elasticated waist was way too loose - meaning when I would try to get out of the water onto my board they would not stay on! So I bought them again in a small. Unfortunately, they're now shorter and skimpier than I would choose, but the waist is still too loose on me. Disappointing.
Best shorts ever for petite ladies
I have at least 12 pairs of these shorts in lots of colors. Navy and black are the colors I wear most often. I work outside from April - October in TN and I wear these every single day. I’m 5’2” and the 4 inch inseam is perfect for me. Short enough to look sporty but still professional. In my opinion they run large. I typically wear a size 14 carrying my weight in my mid section and I wear a size L. There is only one pocket on the back.
