Rivets broke with minimal use. I wanted shoes just for school drop off and quick errands. I even ordered a size up but only chose this style because it had an ankle strap. The strap broke off after a month of use. Birkenstock no longer stands by their products and it’s obvious why.

Love all the comfort from the Birkenstock sandals I’ve purchased over the past decades and decided to give this closed toe version a try. In hindsight, for the price and the issues, I’d probably pass on this shoe altogether. I’m a true 6.5 narrow and ordered my usual size 36 EU narrow/regular, but this style shoe was too wide for me unless I wear a wool sock. Even with socks the shoe is loose. Right away I tried moving the decorative strap from the front of shoe to the back of heel for more stability and to offset the loose fit, but all the strap did was to uncomfortably force my toes up and forward into the hard toe box and away from the proper resting position on the molded portion of the sole designed to comfortably cradle the toes. Adjusting the length of the strap around the heels did nothing to relieve the discomfort from the torturous toe position so quickly the strap was moved the back to the top of shoe into the “decorative” position to stay. While working with the cantankerous buckle and buckle pin to adjust the length of the strap, I got a close look of the quality and design of the buckle and the rivets connecting the strap to the outer leather of the shoe. Clearly, the weakest points of the shoe is the flimsy buckle pin, the rivet and the rivet placement. It seems to me the straps with the buckle were designed for aesthetics only and to give interest to an otherwise ugly shaped shoe and never intended to being worn behind the heel. It’s hard to imagine the current shoe strap rivets and placement could take on the tugging and pulling with each step if worn around heel or when the shoe is frequently placed on and off. It’s also worth mentioning that the sole has a lip that extends approx. 1/4 inch from main body of the shoe around the entire parameter of the shoe. The first few days I was constantly tripping on the lip with my 2 left feet or getting the lip caught on items that were in the home practically bolted down or part of the structure of the home itself. Mind you, I’m elderly, have some balance issues and can be a total klutz. Others will probably be ok with the design of the shoe and the extra width. The jury is still out for me.

I have been a Birkenstock wearer back before they were cool and these are the very best ones I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. Great Soul, comfy and cool. Can't wait to get a back up pair...or 2 :)

These are great slip ons (I always keep the strap flipped forward) and super comfortable. Fit true to size. The purple is very light. They did take a few wears to break in enough to not rub the top of my bare 2nd toe on one foot, but that may be from the way I walk in shoes with no back.

Like that I can have Bierkenstock that can be held on by heel strap. I wear with heel strap most of the time. Wide toe box is perfect. I wear for in house.

Sure Arizona's and Boston's get all the love, but Lutry's are where it's at! Such a comfortable fit and I love the option to change the look or get a more secure fit with the moveable strap. The Oyster color is lovely (now to keep them clean).
