The most efficient windbreaker

What I love most about this jacket- it keeps the chill off me in these windy spring days of spring in Oregon; but even when on an uphill hike I don’t get hot. It is so thin you can see through it. If you do decide to take it off -you can stuff it inside the one pocket in seconds. I have worn it hiking and biking. It fits easily in my kid size 1.5 hydration pack I wear when biking. I know I’ll also get a lot of use out of it in the summer evenings when it gets cool after sunset. My only negative to this jacket is that my iPhone does not fit in the pocket.

Great packable running and hiking jacket

This jacket is great for running (both trail and urban), hiking, and biking - it is ridiculously light weight and has excellent construction. Pros: Lightweight: While I am not a pro ultra runner and not as focused on grams when doing outdoor activities, it is incredibly nice how lightweight (but durable) and packable the jacket is for travel. I have recently been running much more when on out-of-town trips and it's so nice to take an outer layer with no Water resistant and wind resistant: For rain, this holds up fine in light rain/snow, but definitely not during a downpour. For wind, it is excellent at even high winds for maintaining a good body temperature. In a recent hike in Arizona where it was low 50F/partly sunny but had consistent 15 mph+ winds, this was a perfect jacket to keep protected from the wind but not overheat. It also has a cinchable hood that really helps in very windy situations. The material under the arms is purposely more breathable than the rest of the jacket (a more weather resistant material) which really helps with not overheating. Layering: I live in a place with every possible weather condition throughout the year (Minnesota) and also generally run outdoors in the winter, and this is such a great active layer during all seasons. In warm weather months on windy, cool mornings it's perfect to have on over a light T-shirt (until I get hot and can easily take off in the middle of run). I haven't had a chance to run with it in peak winter, but on cooler days it's great to have over a long base layer. I will say this is definitely a 'fitted' jacket so generally cannot wear many thick layers underneath it by design. Cons: Tight cuffs: Consistent with other Arc'teryx jackets I own, the cuffs are tight! Great for weather proofing, but not great if you like to push up your sleeves to cool down during runs/activities. Small negative, but can be annoying when removing the jacket with a watch on in particular. No pockets: I am guessing this is intentional for weight savings, but my least favorite 'feature' as someone who consistently uses front pockets! Especially for just having a spot to warm my hands if I do not have gloves in certain situations. Also the jacket really only has a small side pocket for a set of keys and maybe some cards/one snack. Overall, I would recommend this jacket for many running and hiking adventures if you need something lightweight but durable.

Sheer, lightweight, breathable, and effective

Sheer and lightweight, but does indeed block wind effectively. Had the opportunity to walk, run and hike in 11 mile winds, and was pleasantly surprised with its effectiveness and comfort. Sheer and breathable, so did not overheat while running. I sized up for layering purposes, but probably didn’t need to, and despite that, it fit well enough without balloon effect from the wind when running. Liked the hidden, non obtrusive cinch ties and how it packs up small and well when you finally need to take it off mid run. Will definitely be one on of my go-to’s for running in windy weather rather than my typically desired long sleeves. I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.

Great for packing

The windshield hoodie from arc'teryx is amazing in how lightweight yet durable it is. The jacket does a great job at wind resistance while still being breathable. We have gusts of winds this time of year, so having this in my pack has been very handy and since it packs down so small, its easy to carry with me.

Takes the Edge Off the Wind

I've had this hoodie windshell for about a month now and have had many opportunities to test it, where I live is currently in our windy season and we are experiencing regular wind gusts of around 15 to 20 MPH throughout the day. We have also had a rather raining winter. I have spent a considerable amount of time walking in this rainy windy weather the last few weeks and I can confidently say this windshell took the edge of the wind and my underlayers dry. It is extremely light weight and is roomy enough to fit over top of most of my zip up hoodies for extra warmth. I did receive the blue color version and although I tend to lean towards black clothing in general it is nice to have a bright colored outer layer for increase visibility. My only negative comment about the hoodie is the cut of the silhouette does feel a little baggy to me, but otherwise it is a great addition to my outdoor wear.

Great lightweight jacket

I love the bright blue/black color. It is nice and lightweight and very breathable but still enough to keep the chill out on an early spring hike. I like the ability to adjust the hood so it doesn’t just fall off in the wind. I deducted 1 star because it is a little tight in my hips (I have more of a curvy figure) but fits great at the top. I would have also liked more pockets but that is probably just preference.
