Size up! Great skort for narrow hip gals
Absolutely SIZE UP on this one! I have 3 of these skorts from 2021 and just purchased another in June 2022. I have LOTS of OR clothing and have always worn a size small/ 6. Even though I have narrow hips, the small fits like an XS and I could barely get it on. The Medium fits perfectly. It is true the waist doesn't stretch so if you have larger hips or booty it might not work. It is not the easiest to get on. The black skort sz Med from 2022 fits identical to the black and purple sz Mediums from 2021. Super comfy and lightweight, I wear these all the time for anything. Hiking, teaching kids, yoga and more.
Very tough to get on
I love everything about this skort - fabric, feel, color - and really, really wanted it to work, but it's very hard to get on. That sounds crazy, I know. Should be easy peasy to slip on a skort, right? But not in this case. I have very slim hips and had trouble pulling the skort over my hips and there's no give in the waistband to help. I can't imagine these fitting true to size for anyone who has even a hint of hips. Once you get past the over-the-hips struggle, they fit like a dream (really nice, really comfortable, really flattering) but who wants to struggle that much to get that to that point? Bummed!
Difficult to put on
Has so much potential but Outdoor Research needs to do more research on putting on clothes. This looks great and fits once it’s on, but imposible to put on (or take off to use the bathroom) bc there is no elastic or zipper or anything to allow it to come up over hips (and I barely even have hips)
Wear this on the daily
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've swam in the skort, ran in the skort, dressed it up for a day out. I love tis skort so much and it's incredible comfortable. It's also quick dry so it's the perfect summer clothing choice. My ONLY complaint is that the waist doesn't stretch. So I ordered an x-small, and once it's over my hips it fits my waist and legs perfectly (5'4, roughly 117 pounds), however, because it has no stretch, getting is over my waist and butt is sort of hilarious. Getting it on and off isn't comfortable, and trying to get it down to say go to the bathroom is a pain. I'm not sure why the waist is so taught, but a bit of stretch it would be an absolute winner. I'm still glad I ordered the size I did because once it's on, it really does fit well.
Not usually a skort wearer but THIS is PERFECT
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried this on even though I never buy skorts. I just look better in shorts I think and skorts seemed too girly looking. But something about the shape, length, and swing of this is perfect. Pockets on both sides of the short part is a total win. I ended up going online and buying another color and am thinking about getting another back up black one lol. I am living in these this summer for sure! I am 5'6" and 140lbs and am glad I got the large even though I could probably wear the medium too. LOVE THEM
SO small. No stretch in waistband at all.
I have always been either a small or XS in OR clothing (including the capris and longsleeve I received in this order) and I literally could not pull this skort halfway up my thighs! There is no stretch whatsoever in the waistband and I am so disappointed because I love the way it looks and really wanted it to work out. But, I don't even know if I should attempt a medium because I don't think that will even be enough to get it over my hips (and I don't even really have any!)
Comfy for me!
Wriggling is involved, but I wore these on 5 days of a 7 day (could have worn them on all) backpacking trip (summer in the Olympic peninsula) and loved them. I wrote the Elk on my trip and decided to get the light blue too when I got home. I do wear them around town too but they are my go-tos for hiking. I know that others dont' feel the same way but they work for my non-curvey, not extremely slender but yes petite frame (5'3, ~130 lbs, hips ~5 inches larger than my waist)
best skort of all time
i am so confused by the reviews. the lack of stretch is the best part. it holds everything in and i get so many compliments. the material is soft and forgiving. im an xl it runs a slight bit small but gets looser as the day goes on. i own fifty something skorts and none compare. i have five pairs of the astro skort and buy them any time i can find them anywhere. wish OR still made them and people gave them a chance.
Mixed Feelings
CONS: I hate having to do the Pillsbury doughboy shuffle to get it on. Based on my measurements and the fabric specs, I ordered the medium. I'm more athletic than curvy but trying to get the waistband over my thighs/butt/hips had me eyeing the Crisco in my pantry. It feels like 98% nylon and 2% spandex. PROS: Once the skort is on, I LOVE it and the versatility it provides. After wearing it last week: -9:30 am meeting with management, received compliments from them and coworkers. -*after lunch* pm building pallets in our oppressively hot and humid warehouse, didn't suffer from swampy lady bits and also didn't have to worry about being unladylike. -6:00ish pm sent my first V5 at the gym without summoning Satan, is this skort witchcraft or placebo? I'll keep wearing it but I'm not sure I'd recommend this to a friend or buy another before trying out skorts from other companies.
Waist doesn't stretch
I wish I'd read the comments... like everyone else stated, the waist is not stretchy and fits small. Half my wardrobe is OR, I ordered my normal size and couldn't pull them up past mid-thigh. The waist was comically small - to the point that I'm not sure going up a size would help. I wanted to love this skort, it felt really nice, and appears to be good quality. I wish it had a zipper to let me get it on.
