Decent jacket but not what I wanted

I expected the jacket to be more of in-between seasons, somewhat spring or early fall type. This jacket is actually heavier than expected, so that was first issue. It's not super warm or anything, but there is some heft to it, with enough layering would be good enough winter jacket for NJ weather here. Then the cuffs are pretty wide and you cannot adjust them so that's a the second issue. I'm 5'10" and ordered Large, I think it fits fairly well but again with the cuffs being a bit wide for my liking and no adjustability. The outer material is pretty nice and what I thought it would be, with some weather/water resistance to it. Unfortunately, it turned out to not be what I was looking for and will be returning.

Very warm parka with some stretch, wind resistance

When I ordered this parka, I wasn’t aware that it had a substantial and warm lining, but I am glad it does. I's perfect for winter wear and the hood, while not adjustable, fits well and warmly without binding. The shell is stretchy but protects against wind and probably light rain, but I haven’t test the latter out yet. I guess the best i can say is that the fit is cozy and warm, but not constraining. I ordered a small, but I wear a 40 Regular dress coat, am 5'9" and weigh 155 lbs with a 32” waist, if that’s any help. The sleeves fit just right. By the way, the parka has two front zip pockets. The description on line misses this, as do the photos on line, and there is no mention of the fact that the parka is lined. Just, thought I should mention that. Very pleased with the purchase.

Not quite what I thought I was getting

I purchased this online, but I should have tried it on in person first. I ordered and normally wear a size large in many jacket brands, but this jacket fits oversized, I probably should have ordered a medium. But the pictures and description describe a "lightweight" water and wind resistant jacket. I"m thinking a jacket for maybe a spring/summer shower. This is not a lightweight jacket, I would call it medium weight, more appropriate for fall weather and certainly not lightweight. Second, in the picture it looks stylish. When I tried it on it felt bulky and formless. I did try to like it, but it had to be returned. No problems with the return at REI and I'm thankful for that. I'd suggest other people try this on in person before purchasing.

Insulated Shell Hoodie with Chest Pocket

I read the reviews only after I had already ordered the jacket and got worried about the sizing and weight of the hoodie. I ordered the medium and it fits me (5’6”,160 lbs and 32” waist) well so I’m glad that I didn’t order the small as another, taller reviewer did. The product description calls it a lightweight while the reviewers call it medium weight. Since it was described as 4-way stretch, I thought it was a stretch fleece hoodie. However, it consists of an outer 4-way stretch shell and an inner, insulated polyfill lining. The shell provides more wind and rain protection than a normal fleece hoodie, which is probably why reviewers consider it medium weight. However, compared to other lined jackets, it would be considered lightweight. So, I guess the weight depends on your frame of reference. For packing, it compresses to the size of a medium weight fleece and should be as warm as a medium weight fleece, so I would call it medium weight. It’s good for early spring or fall and, with suitable layering, mild winter activities. You can’t see the hand warmer pockets in the pictures, but they are zippered. You can see the zippered chest pocket in the pictures. I wanted a hoodie with a chest pocket to store my phone, so it’s exactly what I was looking for.
