Cozy but color is off
Cozy, thick flannel. I'm a 5'4" woman and the size small is perfectly oversized. Used as a jacket over a short sleeve on a 40 degree day. The other reviewer was right, though - the colors are way off! I ordered the black, which I expected to be black and white with maybe a little brown in the stripes. Wrong - it's black with multi-colored stripes! Luckily I like the actual color more than the one I ordered, but be aware that the color you order will likely not be the color you get.
Amazing and super comfy
Ignore what others have said below to drop the score of this product. What colors may not match the one specific version they bought, but I can tell you that these are the most comfortable flannel jackets I've ever worn. They're definitely more on the heavyweight side and could be worn as a lightweight fall jacket. I've gotten more compliments on these than almost any other flannel I own.
At Long Last, A Shirt!
About 2005 I bought a dense fleece shirt from Campmor that I've found to be about the best all-round shirt ever for hiking in shoulder season and great as a mid layer in winter. The problem? It's butt ugly and best kept to the trail and kind of heavy when it's time to put it in a pack. I've looked for a replacement for years, but until I stumbled on the VISSLA on REI.com nothing worked. At last, this brings outstanding water and wind resistance that good fleece offers, a lighter weight and almost stylish looks (rustic style). I may have to buy a second so I can devote one to hiking and not worry if it gets roughed up.
Colors don't match picture
The fits nice and the material feels good, too, but the colors of the actual flannel do not match the online picture at all. I was hoping to get the blue-grey color but instead got a grey-white flannel.
Colors are very different from images
The images look like a completely different color than what I received. At the time of posting, the images show a medium-dark shirt with blue/green stripes mixed in. The actual shirt that came has light gray and white stripes, which I cannot abide.
Super soft and comfy
Took a chance and I'm glad I did. So soft! It runs a little small so size up.

Comfy and good-looking
Super cozy, great fit, and looks great. I wore mine as a mid-layer on a cold hike and it held up great, but mostly wear it around town on chilly days. Very versatile.
