Great little light!

Great little light! I needed a light to put under the hood of my truck to deter rats and mice from building nests in the engine compartment. I live in a rural area and had spent far too much money dealing with chewed up wiring. Charged it up and it runs all night on low, after a couple of days of use it now only uses about a quarter of its stored energy and only takes a short while to recharge. Didn’t even realize it had fun color options until I recieved it, can’t wait to take it camping! I also like the dimming effect. Small, lightweight, easy to use and recharge, and the hanging loop is a plus for the tent or truck. I would buy this again, highly recommend it!

Not the best choice…

I didn’t like this lantern at all. The rechargeable battery doesn’t last very long; conversely, it takes a long time to recharge. This is not a good combination for camping.

Ingenious and versatile lantern

This is an ingenious and versatile little lantern. It's super light at under 100 grams and has a small bungee toggle on the bottom which can be attached anywhere. When backpacking, I attach it to any free loop on the outside of my pack and it's secure. In my tent, I attach it to the lantern loop. If I'm walking around and need a bit of extra light, I put it on my belt loop. And at camp, I can either attach it to a tree or place it on a solid surface. The light output has been more than enough for all of these occasions, including using it at a state park picnic shelter to light the entire area. I usually have to turn it down to below half because it's so bright. If I want to preserve night vision, I have the colour mode set to red which is incredibly useful inside of my tent. It's so good even the cow wanted one.

Handy & versatile

This little lamp is perfect for travel! No bedside lamp? No problem! The elastic cord is big enough to slip around a couple of fingers or a tent pole, & stows very cleverly. It’s also a handier flashlight than the iPhone: the light is bright or dim or colored(!) & you won’t have to search for the cord to plug it back in. I have all 3 sizes of the Alpenglow lamp now & I use them all, just about every day.

Great for Kids!

We initially got the Alpenglow Mini for our camping needs, but as soon as we opened the box, our 4 year old usurped it for himself. Our son has had a small handheld night light in his bed since he was a toddler, but the Alpenglow Mini gives him more control over his nighttime lighting options. We love that it has such a long battery life (no need to charge it every day), easy/intuitive controls (in one button!) that our son figured out within a few minutes of use, and thoughtful features like the bungee strap and "lock mode" (which our son doesn't know about *wink). Not only has this small lantern become our son's night time light buddy, it allows him to use his imagination to create sceneries of camp fires, volcanos, submarines, and of course, dance parties during the day! We haven't used it camping yet, but given how it has held up to the daily play of a 4 year old... I would say it can handle the wilderness.

I kept it, sorry granddaughter

I already had the big AlpenGlow and absolutely love it. When I say this min I thought it would make a good present for my granddaughter you love’s to use the big one. So I purchased this with every intention of gifting it to her. When it arrived I had to open (using the excuse that she will need me to show her how it works). Well let’s just say I had to get a new present so I could keep this. Just like the other AlpenGlow’s you can adjust the brightness, color, and animate. And it is really easy to use. My 8 year old granddaughter figured it out right away. She Loves sleepovers just to use it as her night light. Biolite you’ve done it again with another highly functional item that is also fun to use and a conversation piece.

Great multi-purpose light for the whole family

This is a great little light. It provides the perfect warm light for an outdoor meal (both set directly on the table and hanging from a tree branch above) and works great as a nightlight around the house. I have one in almost every room in our house! I even use it on the multi-color mode to provide mood lighting in our hallway and bathroom when we have guests over. It also works great as a nightlight in my toddler's room - it provides just the right amount of light when we're getting ready for bed and I use it on the single light mode set to red when I go into check on him at night. I LOVE the Alpenglow Mini for myself but it's also going to make the perfect stocking stuffer!

good light but not exactly the color advertised

Pros: Good mini lantern, nice and bright, lots of ways to hang it in your tent without accidentally blinding yourself. I like the ability to set to a low reddish color so as to not mess up night vision while doing astrophotography. Cons: the red case is not actually red, more like an orangey color.

Exactly what we needed

Bought this for my oldest kid for car camping. Wanted a simple lantern, rechargeable over USB-C. I'm not moving backwards on charging port. He's happy with it and that's what matters.

My new travel buddy!

I’ve had the Biolite Alpen 500 since it came out, which is still and always will be my fav! But when this little guy came out, I knew I had to have it also. Now it travels with me everywhere I go! It is reliable, easy to use, runs seemingly forever on a charge, has so many lighting options for such a small package, with seriously, the most beautiful vibrant colors, and takes up next to no room in my bag. I loved mine so much i recently purchased a whole pack and gifted them to friends on a weekend getaway. Share the love! Great little lantern!
