Flimsy plastic buckle will break with 70lb+ dog
I was super happy with this leash, until the plastic buckle broke 2 months in. It's nuts that they use such a flimsy buckle for what otherwise is super overbuilt. The worst part is, there is no way to replace the plastic buckle once it breaks. My leash is kept inside and I'm in the PNW too, so it's not like the plastic was roasting in the sun. It's just a flimsy material choice for a crucial part of this leash.
Broke but made it better
Plastic buckle broke with 60lb dog. I replaced it with a nice carabiner and now its my favorite leash. I would recommend breaking off the plastic buckle and putting on a climbing rated locking carabiner if you get this leash.
great running leash but...
this works great for runs while keeping your dog close, it's very comfortable to run in. i'm a fairly small human and had to adjust the leash significantly to fit around my waist, so i'd suggest getting the longer size if you have a bigger circumference and want to give your dog a bit of a longer leash.
Great lead for certain kinds of walks
I use this leash for walks that include park sections where I want him to have some freedom to self-lead and do some sniffing. It gives some good range and spares my shoulder. It also doesn't get wrapped or under his armpit easily when attached to the top ring of his harness. When we got the sidewalk sections, the wrist loop is great for turning it into a structured walk. He seems to feel the difference and changes his "mode" from wander to walk. I also use this at the campsite in concert with the knot-a-hitch dog-run, and it works great. I still use the standard lead when I know we're not going to hit the park on a walk.
Stretchy Leash - great for running
I use this leash for running, and it’s great for smoothing out the experience between me and my dog alternating pace a little bit. I have the 11ft leash and it’s a little too long to use as a hand leash in the city, unless your dog is loose leash trained very well (mine is not).
Works as intended
The leash works great. I opted for the longer version as I am a big guy and when you make the loop bigger to buckle around yourself it shrinks the length that your pup can travel.
When, not if, the buckle breaks…
Great leash but for any dog above a toy size, the buckle will break with any amount of pulling. The plastic buckle is a poor design choice for an otherwise great leash.
wanted to love it but…
Wanted to love this leash. Even with the plastic buckle partially breaking, it still worked and I love the bungee part helping with my dog who pulls. Also love the handle part. However, I’ve had this leash for about two months and the clip part no longer stays together. When my dog pulls, the clip pulls apart slightly and I no longer trust that this leash won’t fail. I’m worried the clip will come apart completely, and allow my dog to escape off leash. I wish they used the lockable clip like they have on other leashes. The other leash with the handle and clip lacks the bungee. I wish they would improve the design. My dog pulls, but she is only 40lbs. I would only recommend this for dogs who do not pull at all or are under 20lbs.
saves my shoulders!
I have a different color and have used this for over a year with a very energetic 75lb dog. This leash has saved my shoulders as my dog likes to dart after bunnies and forgets she’s on a leash. The elastic has worn out on it but I like it enough to buy more. I hope they keep making them. This is a fantastic product.
My dog likes it
When my dog reaches the part of the hike where he scrambles up and I'm too slow about it, the springy leash allows him to recall in a more gentler way than an ordinary leash does. I'm sold on springy leashes for the active pups.
