Please note, this sizing chart is meant to serve only as a guideline.
Sizing downhill poles: Stand in your ski boots on a level floor. With your poles upside down—grips touching the floor—grab the pole beneath the basket so that the top of your thumb touches the basket. Your elbow should now be at a 90-degree angle. If the angle is less than 90 degrees, get a shorter pole. If the angle is greater, get a longer pole.
Sizing XC poles: Stand in your XC ski boots on a level floor. Place the pole tips on the floor next to your feet. The top of the grips should reach your arm pits.
Sizing skate poles: Stand in your skate boots on a level floor. Place pole tips on the ground with the pole shafts perpendicular to the floor. The poles should reach from the ground up to a point somewhere between your chin and your lips.

Lightweight, highly adjustable, great grip, huge powder baskets. Comfortable and durable for the long climbs.
While I haven't used these yet (it is still September), they seem super nice upon receiving them. BD's flicklock tech makes adjusting them really easy, and I love the extended handle. That was actually one of the reasons I chose these poles. The handle can come out of the pole if enough force is applied, which is another cool feature. However, I'm not sure how much I would trust it in avalanche terrain. My only complaint is that they don't pack down very small, but since I've been using fixed-length poles up until now, it shouldn't be that big of an issue. Overall, they seem like a solid pair of poles. I'll have to see how they withstand to wearand tear
I use my poles like Xcountry skiing. I pull myself along and up steep hills for hours every day with my two husky-somethings providing excellent companionship. My complaint - one pole continues to slip and needs continuous adjustment to get back to its set height. Also, I go through the bottom part of the poles very quickly and need replacements often when the spiky part of the shaft crumbles. Alas, no replacements have been available for months meaning I have to buy a new pair!!!!! This really sucks. So a great hiking support is this, but I need replacements available to keep me going.
3 things after one season. 1) I have noticed that one of the lower sections is slightly bent; this without any major incident, I did have a couple of minor falls during the season, but nothing I can remember that would have contributed to this (I have not bent a pole in 20 years) 2) when unlocked the sections can easy be separated, there is not stop at the end. I had to back track over a run to search for a section that fell out. I was carrying another persons poles at the time, so I did not notice. Cost me an hour and I was very lucky to have found it. 3) I would have liked a larger bump out on the handle below the top grip section, when you are not using the straps your hand can slide down the pole pretty easy.
I have the 155s, love the quick-loc system, it's fast and secure, I've no issues with slipping. I like the extra length of these poles for touring on rolling terrain in the ADKs. But the baskets: this is my 2nd pair of BD poles and the screw-on baskets just don't stay on either set. I've even tried gluing them on. There are few things more frustrating than backtracking for a buried basket. After another maddening morning ski, I'm going to local ski shop switch out the pole tips for G3.
Overall great poles for trekking in the back country or tree skiing. Only issue experienced was that the baskets would not twist on, which caused me to loose my basket on the first day out with them. Other than the basket issue, great lightweight option that does not break the bank as much as the carbon pole
Happy with a new updated FlickLock Pro mechanism- all metal (new to me as I was replacing 10 year old poles)! Pole is light and super-sturdy and I also love the updated powder basket! Using them for both front and backcountry! Black Diamond is the bomb in rigorous outdoor gear! Get a pair!
Great poles. Only challenge is they don't collapse very far. If you're looking for a set and forget length, these are stellar. If you want then to collapse small for packing, splitboarding, etc, be aware they don't shrink up too much.
great poles with a strong clasp to lock in the length. I especially like the extended grips allowing for different hand placements while touring without having to stop and adjust the height
Locking feature is super easy to use and locks tight. Baskets come off and go back on less than a minute. Overall give these a 10 out of 10.
