Great Design but flaws.
Good design but poor metal blade quality. Blade snapped in 2 spots when cutting though mixed layers of snow while building a snow shelter. Would like to recommend a higher quality metal or an option to buy replacement saw blades.
The only saw to get, could be improved
Don’t buy another saw they all suck. Research shows that CT and ECT tests are ineffective deeper than 50-60 cm. This saw cuts just below that to fully free up the column. You can throw your cord in the trash and only carry this saw. Also the ability to pivot the blade 270 degrees and cut the back of a CT from the chimney is real nifty. Ways it could improve: needs to be stiffer with less play in the joint!! Also, it would be rad it the blade rested against the handle rather than nesting inside it, that would allow you the more effectively clean up the walls of the pit with the saw instead of the shovel ( though the big evac 9 makes this task easier for sure)
I’d say the best feature of this saw is the folding action. The blade is easy to stash in a backpack when folded without concern for an exposed blade cutting other items. The easy attachment to a BD trekking pole is excellent for extending the saw for ECTs or long cuts. Very easy and quite stable for an extension. A couple detractors: the position locking button for saw sticks out and easily gets jammed with snow and ice if cutting deeper than the blade, like when cutting ECT columns, and the blade flexes a bit more than desired. Slower, more careful cutting can give a straighter cut with this blade.

Light but flimsy
I like that it folds and it is a pretty light saw. However that is also a drawback. I have 3 saws at this point. For performing an ECT in a heavier snowpack this saw attached to the poll will bend and potentially undercut your column. I wish someone made a saw like the one from Brooks range 70cm one! Unfortunately this one is just a meh saw. It'll do for small column tests and learning. The locking mechanism also feels shaky and frozen snow messes with it. Whoever designed this thought that it's always a powder day. Well it ain't! I wish it was! For professional use look further.

Love it ... but has a serious design flaw
Excellent saw. Works as designed. But a serious design flaw needs to be addressed. It fails at the 30 and 35 cm notches when sawing cold (-10 deg C) hard slabs.
Good blade, locks at 90 deg to saw back side of block, stows nicely inside of handle

Heavy and collapses during use
It's a nice concept but the hinge is not very good...not sure if its a design issue or what but my saw collapses on me every time I use it, no matter what. I fold it out to be flat and then it just keeps folding back when I start sawing. This means I have to actually hold the teeth/hinge with my hand to get it to work which defeats the function of the design. At first I thought it was snow/ice in there but the problem persists even in summer when cutting alders. Unless the hinge/button gets redesigned, I'm not going to get another one.
Nice Saw - Icing Issues on mechanism
I have quite a few snow saws as I run an Avalanche Education Program and and Avalanche Forecast Center. I have a 100cm Brooks Range Saw that I wanted to replace to lighten my load. This saw was to fit that bill. The saw works great and attached to my adjustable poles nicely; however, the folding mechanism tends to fill with snow and ice and freeze up. I can usually fix this by blowing hot air in the joint area or pooring a hot liquid. This more annoying than anything else as it can take up to a few minutes before I can collapse.

Works as intended
Had this saw for two seasons and it just now kicked the bucket last week. Great for use in pits. Helpful markings, nice pole attachment, and I like that you can change the angle of the saw. Only downsides I found are in the blade itself. is that I had to do some tree trimming to make a heli landing pad for an evac and now the blade it bent. I also noticed that sometimes the blade would flex and not cut it a straight line down. Aside from that, great product.
