Great Bibs Ready for the Season

I was able to take the Picture Organic Men's Avening Bib Pants out on an early season tour in Colorado. It was about 22° F when we started and probably got up to 30° F while we were out. The bibs were a great active layer due to the side vents and amount of insulation they have. The medium-ish insulation kept me warm while we were stopped, and while skiing down. These bibs also have some other great features including, velcro shoulder strap length adjustments which are quite strong and easy to adjust. On the main front zip, there are two zippers allowing for easy access when nature calls. There is a small wallet sized zipper on the upper left side of the front (non-felt lined) and two larger zippered pockets on the thighs (felt lined). The two thigh pockets both have a draw-string that connects down to the back of your heels so you can pull the pants up, making transitions a little easier. I wish there was a key ring or buckle on these draw-strings to attach your avalanche beacon, but I was able to make due. The thigh pockets are sewn in and flush so you don't have to worry about them getting ripped off in case of an avalanche either. The zippers are covered by a flap that attaches with a button. This flap does make it a little harder to access the pockets, but insures your things are nice and safe. I was able to fit an iPhone 14 pro max in the thigh pockets with a ski strap. The bib pants have 3 belt loops, one in the rear and one on each hip. They are not large enough to fit an Arcade belt buckle, but a smaller one should work. The cuffs of the pants have a reinforced area around the ankles so boots, edges, and crampons should have a harder time ripping them. There are two buttons on the outside of the ankles that allow the cuffs to expand maybe two more inches. The bibs also have snow gaiters with a lace hook on a slightly extended piece of fabric. The outside fabric seems to be pretty water repellent (haven't had the chance to test in wet snow) and abrasion resistant. I fell into some dirt and mud at the bottom of our run and the pants held up well for a few more laps. I am 6'4 and was slightly worried about the 33" inseam, but it worked well due to the adjustability of the shoulder straps. I'm on the slimmer side with a 31" waist and the Medium fits perfectly, if a little on the small side. I received the "Raven Grey" color which is definitely grey (no complaints), it has black accents on the ankles and hips while the inside is also black. I think my only con about these bib pants would be the lack of key-ring/buckle in the thigh pockets and the ease of access to those pockets. But otherwise, these pants seem pretty excellent and I can't wait to continue to use them this ski season!

Super High Utility! Beautiful Branding.

(see below for bullet list) By far the highest utility snow pants I've owned. So far, I've had the opportunity to take these pants on the slopes twice - both times were white-out near blizzard conditions, and the pants performed great. super warm, but not too toasty. The pants have some sort of fabric that lets sweat through, but not water in. I think PICTURE calls it DryPlay. If it's too toasty, there are two foot-long vent zippers on the side that do help a little. I will say the vent zippers might not be as helpful for some as for others. They are on the side of the thighs, and don't release much heat. Would've preferred some inner thigh vents. If you're environmentally minded, these pants are also great. PICTURE (the company that makes the pant) makes their products out of sustainable materials (specified as textile industry waste: 40% post-consumer, 60% factory cutting scraps), has ethical productions laws, and covers these pants with climate-messaging (see pictures). Cool Utility Features: - Snow gaiters with clip, expandable size, and environment-focused typography design. - Pockets with gaiter tighteners. - Side thigh vents. - Snow pass pocket. - Elastic under-arm side for mobility. - SUPER comfy straps. - DryPlay fabric, which is magic at repelling water and releasing sweat. Design details: - Custom buttons. - Environment-aware branding. - Cool-shaped zippers. - Gray charcoal color that matches everything. My 2 cons: - Runs a little large. I'm usually small-medium, but I checked the sizing and I'm definitely a small in these pants. Consider going for a size smaller if you are in-between sizes. - Size thigh vents don't release as much heat as I'd like. Would've preferred inner-thigh vents.

Quality, sustainability, and functional Bibs

These Picture Organic bibs are very functional and high quality. They make no sacrifices for their sustainability and eco friendly approach. They are warm without being too heavy, and Definitely waterproof, I sat with them in wet snow for 20 min several times throughout the day, and nothing soaked through. The style is sharp looking and the logos are subtle but give a quality feel to the pants. Fit is spot on for a given size, ordered a medium (wear a 32 size waist pants,) and they fit perfectly. I am 6’1” and they are still plenty long enough in the leg and not excessively baggy as some pairs can be. The vents, and their zipper, are featured right within reach on the side of your hip/leg and function quite well when moving. My shoulders are not the broadest and sometimes the straps would fall off, but crossing the straps up in back or in front keeps them on your shoulders all day. The Velcro adjusting straps are a much better system than the standard loop through sliders you see on most outdoor clothing and backpacks. They were plenty warm on the 20 degree Fahrenheit day I had them out, but these are more towards lightweight than deep winter warmth. This made temperature regulation on the backcountry hiking to get early winter powder runs more tolerable. You could add quality base layers under them to make them much warmer. Boot gaiters with metal hooks kept my feet dry and they stayed in place all day. Fold over pockets on the front are secure and easy to get open/closed.

Avenging Bib Pants

First thing I didn’t like when I put them on was the fit. I have been through several other pairs of bibs and these are the most constraining. I am fairly tall but not large, but these felt constrained in certain areas that made movement hard. This is particularly noticeable during the ski touring days. Skiing down the resorts probably won’t cause as much of a problem. I also didn’t like the pocket set up. I don’t feel there are any large enough and there aren’t quite enough of them. I make use of my pockets with a beacon, snacks, and a couple of cold ones, plus everything else. These make it hard in that regard. As for the good parts, the pants hold temperature well, has a durable build, and a lifetime repair warranty. It’s hard to beat quality products and warranties that protect them. For those reasons I give these pants a higher rating than I normally would. Granted I haven’t had them for a couple of seasons, so I can’t fully speak to how well they will hold up. I think these pants are worth the buy if you try them on and don’t get bothered by the fit. They have the potential to hold up well.

Comfortable pants with good features

I am 6'0, 200 lbs with about a ~32 inch inseam. The pants fit really well - enough room in the legs to wear an extra sweatpant or thermal layer, and the length is long enough that it fits over ski boots with the wide bottom. The suspender straps are velcro adjustable, and there is a double zipper in front of the chest so it can be zipped open from the top or from the bottom. There are also two pockets on the front thighs that are deep enough for a regular-sized smart phone (Pixel 6 in my case), though maybe not any XL-sized phones. The inside was lined with a light layer of insulation so these could be worn on slightly warmer winter days without a thermal layer underneath. As far as activity, there was enough stretch in the legs and the bottom so I could walk uphill without feeling tight in the legs, and could squat and sit on the ground without them feeling tight as well. There are two long zippered side vents going from the waist to mid-thigh, so those would be good to use when your legs are getting too warm. The only downslide was the shirt I was wearing kept riding up my back during physical activity, so I would need to tuck it into my thermal pants layer to keep the shirt from riding up all the time. Overall, a great ski pant that seem pretty sturdy, and warm enough for the very cold resort days but also has features that could help with harder physical activity on uphill hikes.

Comfortable

Comfortable and functional bib that is warm but not overwhelmingly so. I’m a beginner snowboarder so I fall a lot but haven’t gotten any snow inside the bib. The length is adjustable with drawstrings hidden in the pockets, all the way down to fit someone 5’0. I suggest sizing up, especially if you’re wearing impact shorts and knee pads. Great deal when it’s on sale.
