Love the stiffness. Hate the fit.

After our initial excitement that Salomon finally brought back an advanced boot for female freeriders, my team was disappointed to find that this boot doesn't fit women but is essentially the men's Malamute but in different colors. The heel cup is huge, our heels just slide around in them even with the boas at max tightness, so we got exactly the opposite of the control in all-mountain conditions that this boot is supposed to provide. We can't wait until Salomon brings back a stiff women's boot for advanced riding like their old Moxie, hope it happens soon!

Amazing boots

I have been riding these 6-7 days a week since the start of last season. I work as an instructor and use them every day for work and also for free riding! I love these boots! They fit me perfectly out of the box, no break in pain and have held out into this season with no issues or breakdown. They are still stiff and responsive even after over 100 days on snow. I was hoping for a new design this year but will definitely be buying these again when these eventually wear out! Thanks Salomon!

Horrible heal lift

These boots are awful around your foot. I have a wider foot for women and sized down half a size. My toes can just barely hit the front of the boot which is ideal, and my entire heal is still lifting up. I like the stiffness but it does nothing when you’re heal is lifting. I’m a snowboard guide and if you’re anywhere from beginner to advanced these boots are terrible for anyone.

Well Made Boot

This boot is on the stiffer side. It's exactly what I've been looking for in a Salomon boot. The construction looks and feels bulletproof. The liner is solidly made, comfortable, and heat moldable. Five days on snow and I've had no issues.

Love the stiffness

I felt I needed to write a review. I have had Salomon boots ever since I started teaching snowboarding 20 years ago in college. I had an older version of the Kiana boot before I bought the Vista. I was looking for a stiff boot. I decided to go with the vista because it is so stiff. After trying it on I was surprised at how the heel basically had no support. Loads of heel lift. Not like the old Salomon women snowboard boots. My old Kiana boot cupped my heel and I had no lift. I also tried on the new Kiana at the same time and it had loads of heel lift too. Not sure why Salomon would change something so crucial! I got the boots at a local shop and the owner had ways to mitigate the heel lift. We inserted foam (that we cut to fit) with a sticky back on the shell around my heel till we got the desired fit. Now I have no heel lift and they feel great. I also had to get a heat molded footbed because the factory one had no arch support. I got these boots with my eyes wide open knowing I had to fix stuff. But they are the stiffest boots I was able to find so that’s why I got them. I was surprised that these boots were not of a higher standard considering they are for aggressive riders. Then after all this of getting them to feel good. At the end of the season in April the boa lace started to fray and fail. My old boots had wire. Why would you not keep the wire?! One season and the lace fails, beyond annoyed. I expect better. Does that mean I’m going to have to do this every year? Annoying. I want wire back please. And the black rubber on the toe next to the stitching has started to wear off too. This boot is for advanced riders I should think it should wear better. That said I do love the stiffness and the fit (once I modified it). If you have this boot talk to some shops they hopefully can help with the heel lift. Salomon please fix the flaws, this boot has the potential to be amazing.
