Packaging and delivery

I have yet to give this product as a gift, but I am absolutely shocked as to the way the product was packaged for delivery and the condition the package was in when I received it. There was 1 piece of package paper inside the box to pad the product. The box itself was about 5 times the size of the product. As well as it consisted of two boxes split at the end and taped to make the shipping box! As stated, absolutely shocked, I am not sure if I could order for delivery if this is typical.
