Youth Sizes for Petite Ladies-Excellent
At 5'2" I went to youth apparel and found this to be a perfect fit. Also had a choice of color and other styles. Size guide is exact. I was referred by a friend to go to Youth Sizes and she was right.
Great Jacket
Great jacket for kids. This will be our “warm winter” jacket for NC (don’t need anything too warm). Our son loves it and is very comfortable with plenty of room to grow.
Perfect
Zipper broke, too easy to puncture
I bought this for my active 6 year old to be his warm winter puffer, and it didn’t even make it through December before the zipper broke and it had tiny punctures in a few spots where stuffing was starting to come out. To be fair to the jacket, my kid does not zip the “correct” way, stabilizing the left side while you notch and pull the zipper with your right hand. In true kid fashion, he’s still learning fine motor skills, so would notch the zipper and pull it up with his right hand without stabilizing the left side, which puts extra pressure on the left side of the zipper. Still, I would expect sturdier hardware in a coat of this caliber. It was only a month before the left side of the zipper separated from the track. Also, the very thin shell is delicate. If your kid plays hard, it will inevitably get punctures where the stuffing comes through. I don’t think this is a case of me having unrealistic expectations. By comparison, his (much cheaper!) puffer from Target last year is a workhorse and the zipper is fine despite much tugging, and there are no punctures, and he was a year younger and even less dexterous then. On the plus side, the warmth is excellent, and it’s great that it’s packable. I would say this could be an excellent option for an older kid, but even so, if your kid brushes against a tree or plays hard, the thin shell is still a dealbreaker.
