Superb performance

This product was a light weight mid layer zip up fleece. Very well constructed. Waffle fabric inside that felt cozy. Discrete thumb holes at the end of the sleeves. Fit was true to size. I’m 5”7 and 165 pounds. The size L fit perfectly. It has a nice athletic style fit, not boxy. I used this light weight layer in the mornings and evenings, 40-50 degree temps. Once it got below 35 it was a bit too chilly on its own but made a great layer. It’s a thin fabric but nice quality. Used this on fall hikes in. Minnesota, perfect for mild fall or even spring. The only downside of this jacket was the zipper loops are very tiny and if you have any difficulty with your hands gripping small loops, this would not be a great option. Overall a 4 out of 5. Great jacket to add to your hiking gear set.

Excellent

I used this jacket in late September at Zion and Bryce Canyon National parks in Utah. The high temps for my trip during the day rarely exceeded 70. I wore this first during our hike in the Narrows. The Narrows does not get much sun in the canyon, and that water was 60 degrees. We came from the south end, and to get far enough required getting most of our torsos wet. I kept this jacket dry in my bag and threw it on after, only needing it to warm up for a short time. Even with a wet tank top on underneath, it breathed well outwardly while limiting any cold air from getting in. I was also surprised with how well it held my own body heat and used it to warm me. Most of the pictures I've included are from the Narrows, and this jacket served me most well afterwards when my body wasn't moving as much and I needed to warm up on the shuttle back. It started raining after as we went to Canyon Overlook - it's hard to tell in the pictures how rainy it got since the pic was taken in the beginning of that hike, but I was incredibly warm with it under my rain jacket. Even after 3-4 hours of wearing it on top of wet clothes with more rain to repel on the outside, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all except for the feeling of being wet. I received the tealish color in medium and think it looks both subtle and slick with a snug fit. It makes me feel confident both in how I look and perform in the outdoors without being too flashy about it! It fits (I usually wear medium shirts) to and flatters my body (5' 7"; 155 pounds; C 36; Hips 39; Waist 32; Chest 35; Sleeve 30) well enough while allowing full functionality at the same time. I never felt uncomfortable during several wet hikes - for context, we hiked 21 miles and 4660 feet in elevation in 3 days. The fabric is soft with a great waffle texture that doesn't rub anywhere awkwardly even with gear on. It's definitely abrasive resistant as I snagged it several times with no damage. The pockets are an excellent bonus, including the chest pocket, and all the zippers glide in a way where I can tell they'll last for a long time. In my opinion, many companies forgo their zipper quality in favor of everything else, but not here. I've broken many zipper tracks! I love zipped clothing in the outdoors if I can get away with it, as keeping it closed is much warmer than open, and being able to open it is nice if you're generating a lot of body heat from exercising. As a bonus, even after sweating and being wet in it, I was still able to roll it up in my bag when I got hot and it didn't even retain that mildew/wet smell when we got back to the tent and shook it out. The nights in Zion and Bryce get freezing (seriously, between 30-40 degrees that time of year) so it really came in handy again when we had to leave the tent for bathroom breaks, and just staying warm in general.

Details Matter

Arc'teryx put thought into the Delta Fleece Jacket and took care of the details! For reference, I am 5'3", 100 lbs. (1) The Boxcar color is an absolutely beautiful shade of green! (2) The materials used are lightweight, soft & draw moisture away from the body. As a bonus, the fabric does not retain odor. (3) Arc'teryx took great care with details - thumbholes are key for those of us who suffer from circulatory issues. (4) I ordered a SMALL. I am pleased with my size choice, as it allows space for a long sleeve baselayer without causing constriction. An XS would potentially cause constriction. (5) Incredible for cool morning adventures! (6) Be mindful to follow all care instructions to maintain integrity of the product.

Disappointing

I was really excited about this fleece - super lightweight, packable, warm - however it's really let me down. The Retreat color doesn't match the product IRL but that wasn't a big deal to me, writing that as more of a caution to other buyers who might be more particular - it's more of a mustard color. The disappointment came with the fit (doesn't fit like previous Delta versions, much bigger and baggier) and how it's held up on trails and in the laundry. I followed care instructions, machine washing in cold water but the zipper came off the track and the track is twisted so I can't get it back on. This happened after two washes! Major bummer...

Soft, lightweight, and versatile

I was totally amazed that this kept me warm and was so soft and lightweight that I almost forgot I was wearing it. It's a lot softer and thinner than my 10-year-old Arc'teryx fleece. I wore it camping, mountain biking, and hiking in northern Wisconsin in mid-to-late September, with temps dropping into the 40s a couple nights. When the temps were in the high 40s to low 50s at night, I wore it as a mid-layer under another jacket. When the temps were in the mid-50s to 60s, I wore it as the outer layer, including on my early morning trail rides (until I warmed up). When I took it off, it was lightweight enough to strap to my hip bag without getting in the way. I think it will be great for fall rides as the temps continue to drop. The fabric is super soft and stretchy. I'm normally a medium, and the medium fit well. It's very fitted, which I normally don't like, but it wasn't binding or clingy at all. It totally moved with me and felt great on the bike. Other things I liked: - I wore it a lot over five days of camping, including sleeping in it two nights, and it stayed dry and odor-free. - I love the color--it's kind of neutral, but more interesting than grey (and coincidentally, it matches my bike). One other thing to note--because the fabric is so thin, I wouldn't wear this anywhere near my cats. They'd turn it to Swiss cheese in less than a second.

Love it!

At first I didn’t like the Delta Jacket. It just didn’t convince me. I have an Atom Hoody and a Covert Cardigan. Those are great, but sometimes can get a bit too hot. That’s why I decided to try the Delta Jacket, and I fell in love with it! What convinced me as a well was the Fika color, which I really like (and bought other Arc’teryx products in that color!). The Delta Jacket feels really soft, warm, and light. It’s a perfect layer for many different situations. I brought it with me on vacation and on hikes, and it made me so happy. I bought it in the spring of this year and can’t wait to see how it will perform in the winter as a second layer.

Delta jacket that isn’t

I bought this several weeks ago ordering same size medium—I have several other Delta jackets that I love. This came — noticed outside material was slick. I washed it on delicate cold and hung it to dry. The jacket has puckered all along the inner edge of one picket. Looks almost ruched. The collar is much higher and the chest pocket big, sleeves are very long and has odd hem edge. And then top it off it is not nearly as warm as the previous 2020 model. In short I dislike this jacket immensely. Please bring back the other model — why mess with a good thing?

I miss the old Delta version

I just received my jacket, and excited to wash it as soon as possible so I could wear it as soon as possible, I tore off the tag...then I put my arm inside the arm to turn it inside out for washing...and was. so. disappointed. It's not soft like all of my old Delta jackets. I was replacing a jacket I just lost on a trip, and honestly, this new jacket is terrible. I wish I'd read the reviews...but didn't think I would need to as the product name is still the same--why would the product be so completely different? Now, having read the reviews, I'm afraid to wash it. Ugh. So disappointed.

Prefer the updated version

I usually don’t write reviews but saw this update was getting a lot of negative reviews that I have to disagree with. I prefer the updated version compared to the old model. The new version is long enough and less boxy compared to the older version that was always too short at the waist and had a square fit for me. I’m taller at 5’10 so I’m assuming this is part of the reason I like the longer, leaner fit better. Went with my normal size medium and I absolutely love it. Will buy in other colors, wouldn’t mind seeing what a 1/4 zip update looks like as well.

Not a good update.

Why did you turn this much loved style into an advertising piece with that weird unusable pocket? Women don’t use those chest pockets. I miss the old delta lite zip jacket with the neat collar which could be worn everywhere. How many hoods do we want to have crammed up against the backs of our necks? Bring back the old more tasteful jacket without the contrast pocket and without the advertising logo beaming out.
