Solid chairs

I have two of these and they are great - no issues or "saggy bottom"?? They are not the lightest weight chair but sturdy - like you can lean back and not worry about bending the poles and whatnot. I am a bigger dude and less sturdy chairs are not comfortable.

Comfortable, but fell apart the first time used

Nice, big comfortable chair and seemed stout. The first disassembly plastic end caps flew off and one of the elastic cords came undone with no clear way to reattach it. The problem is that without tension it's no longer useable. Completely disappointing that these things cost what they do and aren't durable whatsoever.

Perfect for base camp or the barracks

I have two of these chairs and have used them extensively for both recreation and for military field training exercises. Reading some of the other reviews, I am surprised by the negative experiences, but mine have been great. The "saggy bottom" issue is either user error or a grossly out of spec chair. I have never had any part of the chair fail or disassemble. On to the positive: these chairs are supportive and roomy, big enough for guys pushing the weight limit but also comfortable for smaller people. They don't have "arm rests" but the shape provides support under the arm so you aren't just flapping, and you can sit in them for hours in comfort. They pack down really small and fit inside a 3 day assault pack or anything else around 35-40 liters. They aren't ultralight like the regular Mica Basin or the even smaller Skyline, but they are much more robust. I've sat in mine while wearing body armor and, although I wouldn't recommend plopping down in the chair while so burdened, it held my weight without signs of strain or buckling. Everywhere I take them, people love my BA chairs, and after using them in the TOC and barracks for two weeks, I think they are going to be a permanent addition to my field furniture. The only downsides are that they take longer to set up than the ubiquitous collapsible camp chairs and they are light enough that, on a windy day, you have to make sure you leave something heavy in them so they don't blow away. That said, I have no regrets on spending the money for really excellent field gear.

Saggy bottom

Saggy bottom- hit the crossbar when sitting, and I’m not large.

saggy bottom chair

I have the larger Big Six version of this chair which no longer appears on REI but still sold other places and via Big Agnes directly. Design is nearly identical (big six is so my larger and has armrests.. I've rec'd this chair to MANY friends/family, and still others have asked when they've seen and sat in it. Amazing chair. Unfortunately the seat now sags to the pint where it bottoms out on the lower cross bar except in a very slumped sitting position, or when sitting perfectly erect and upright, neither of which are terribly comfortable. I am (nor is anyone who has briefly tried the chair) Nowhere near the max weight load for the chair... At my heaviest 215lbs, and just below 200lbs for the past year+. This chair was bought new from REI in late June of 2021...just over two years ownership and has seen VERY LIMITED USE. It has yet to go camping in fact and has only been used at half a dozen little league baseball games, and perhaps a dozen or slightly more sitting session on our deck outside in summer. Beyond that it has remained stored in a closet in it's bag. It has never seen more than a light sprinkle of precipitation and looks as new as the day it was bought ... Except for it's saggy bottom.. Honestly a giant disappointment such a short time on in it's age/use. Not sure if mine is somehow seamed wrong/poorly, but I can't rec this chair anymore and I'm well out of the REI 1 year policy quite obviously. I'll contact the folks at Big Agnes this week and hope for the best and that this review can be updated favorably in future.

Comfortable and packable, but mine is ugly...

Got this at a pretty steep discount in the Greenback pattern. It's ugly but complements my other one in the other trout pattern. I have an affinity for ugly stuff so the colors don't bother me at all. This is comfortable and sturdy. It's not quite as big or robust as the Helinox Chair One XL but is the next best thing from what I have seen. This is rated to 300 pounds and I believe it would hold up for someone that size. The material quality is excellent. I've been abusing the other one for about two years with no issues so far. I have back problems and this was comfortable for sitting through 6 hours of softball games the other day. It packs down to about the diameter of a 32oz nalgene, but is about twice as long. It's not ultralight but isn't as bulky or heavy as a lot of chairs this size either. Overall I am really happy with these chairs and feel like they are worth the retail price.

Nice camp chair

The chair sits higher and is very comfortable. I have several different iterations of packable camping chairs and this one is at the top of the list.
