Disappointing switch of fabric from Merino wool

I own 6 of these beanies and am a big fan. Why? Because they are very thin and can be easily packed into a jacket pocket for when you need it and have a small footprint. The reason I've given this new version of the Rho Toque only 3 stars is that it is no longer made from Merino wool but is some synthetic material that I'm betting isn't going to be as warm as the wool. Merino wool isn't itchy and provides excellent warmth even in the original thin knit- this hat is definitely an ear saver if the weather takes a turn you weren't expecting so I keep one in various jackets that I wear. As a bonus the coverage is excellent for the back of your head to the neck and it can layer under another hat, hood, or helmet if required. I'm sorry the company switched to a different fabric.

Lightweight and comfortable, fits smaller heads!

I honestly loved the weight and feel of this hat but returned it because I did not find the color flattering on me. It was the Yukon, which looks a little more yellow in the photos but has more of a brownish mustard tinge to it in person. I think it will be great for backpacking and is easy to fold up and stow away when not in use. I preferred this microfleece material over the wool toques as it felt more form fitting and technical. Please make more fun colors in the microfleece!

Great toque!

Just received this about 2 weeks ago. I love the weight, the feel. It’s light yet has a subtle warmth to it, seems to block the wind well also. Early fall here, temps down close to freezing in early morning, keeps me warm without overheating me on walks, bikes, hikes… so far so great! Will see how it performs in the colder weather with higher output activities. The large size gives me ample coverage over the ears, may also grab a smaller one as a spare, more beany-like fit.

Great for backpacking and lightweight!

Bought this to use on the Wonderland Trail backpacking around Mt Rainier. Loved the low profile and light weight of this item to use on cold mornings. I even slept in it to keep my ears warm during those 30 degree mornings. Packs up really small, holds it shape, fits under another hood (like the Proton and the Motus shirt I was wearing). Got the black and love it, wish it came in more colors! Washed easily when I got home, no pilling or issues with fabric so far.

Live in this toque!

I now own several of these toques. They are fantastic for wearing under a helmet in winter. They are soft, comfortable, lightweight and cover the ears...what more would you want in a toque! These toques are also great for wearing during aerobic activities such as skate skiing or running in cold temps where you want more than a headband. They are small and lightweight and easily fit in the pockets of your favourite insulated jacket.

Great toque

I bought this a couple months ago and this is my go to toque whenever I leave the house whether I immediately need it or not. It is warm when it is cold but also not too warm when it is just windy and you want to keep the wind out if your ears. Because it does not take space I have it always with me and do not notice it, even when it is just in my jacket pocket or sometimes my jeans back pocket. Best toque ever that I bought.

Love this Toque!

I think i will likely buy another one of these soon. The fit is perfect. It is snug AND it fits over the ears which makes a perfect toque in my books. This toque is thin enough to wear under a helmet. It is also a good choice for high output sports like skate skiing or cold Wx biking. I bought the smaller size for me and my partner bought the larger size which fit well on him as he does have a larger than average sized head!

More of a slouchy toque than close-to-head fit

I received this as a gift and was surprised to find that there is so much extra material at the top. The material has a nice, light feel but the cut is more like a slouchy toque than having a smooth, close fit to your head. I prefer the old style that fit neatly under a helmet. Make sure you check the photos carefully to notice the extra material.

Two Surprise Ancillary Uses

This toque is perfect for carrying on the plane and pulling down over your ears and eyes when you want to doze off. It kills off ambient light and noise perfectly. Which also makes it perfect for meditation or a quick catnap in your favorite lounger. I can't comment on its outdoors qualities because mine stays indoors or with me on a trip.

Super comfortable

I’ve been waiting for these hats to restock, so I’m so glad I was able to get my hands on one. They are super stretchy and comfortable, I feel like I can wear this in pretty much any weather conditions. Great hat overall!
