They are fine.
They are just tights. There is nothing special about them. They are comfortable to run in and nice for layering but they are not warmer than any other pair of tights. You are paying for the Patagonia name/alure. I would not have bought these if they were not on clearance at my local REI. Over $100 for these tights is crazy. I have done about 15 runs with them and there are no signs of pilling or wearing. The pockets are okay relatively tight but I image they would stretch out fairly quickly.
Good design, poor construction
Good design, poor construction. Got a tear in the crotch after one run. Design and materials are good but the construction is poor. Cannot recommend these running tights.
great but question quality
Fits great and very comfy. Pockets on each side are deep and great. I wore them 5 full days hiking in Grand Canyon + on 3 trail runs. Kept me warm enough in 30-40 degree weather. Stiching at seam on lower leg at mid-calf started to unravel quite a bit after these uses. Took them back to REI and exchanged them for a new pair. Hard to believe the stiching would unravel like this, especially for the price, but hopefully my 2nd pair holds up better. I’m 5’9” and 190lbs— large fits well. I would say true to size.
Excellent experience with these
I went on a four day bike tour from Albany, NY to Syracuse over Columbus day weekend. First multi-day bike trip. I couldn't find my leg warmers, and Amazon overnight had a terrible selection, so I hesitantly splurged on these Patagonias. I definitely wanted something with odor/bacteria protection. I wore these all four days just over regular underwear, with shorts or pants on top. Mostly shorts. We were riding in temps from 40-58 degrees. These things never acquired an odor, they were super comfortable, and just kept me the right temperature whether it was early afternoon or in the evening. I was more than impressed with these. To me at least, these were worth every penny. Plan to use them on shorter rides this winter. No touring for me in the cold, but these are now on my radar. I wish they made a leg warmer version of these - so you could just pull these on your legs while wearing shorts. Can't recommend these enough though.
Excellent running tights
The fabric is durable and after a season of use is holding up very well. The legs are short, but cold spots are easily handled with crew socks. The addition of side pockets is a welcomed improvement since the last version.
