I've used this on several hikes and it works very well. The hydration pack is removable and I usually keep it off since I prefer to carry a water bottle. I've also used it as an overnight bag as it's big enough to store a shirt, pants, underwear/socks, and toiletries. Other times I've carried a hammock and snacks for a hike out in the woods. I'm not a fan of the flip up lid when I have things stored in the mesh pocket beneath. Rather, I wish it had an external zip pocket for things like my wallet.
This is great pack! Absolutely perfect for day hikes. It is incredibly comfortable, light weight, and has plenty of room. Love the hydration bladder that is included (so many hydration bladders have that plastic taste but if you follow the instructions carefully it you don't get that with this bladder). The 2.5 L bladder size is also very ideal. Overall, great investment and definitely worth the > $100 price. Osprey is one the best when it comes to quality and life time warranty. Very happy with this purchase.
Just got this home and tried it on and when I attached the magnetic chest strap it set off the alarm for my pacemaker! I’m guessing this won’t be an issue for most, but thought it was worth mentioning as it could be an issue for others who may be looking for a pack with a magnetic clasp close to the sternum. Otherwise, a great looking, quality pack.
I bought this via REI's re-find section right after I got my membership. I was getting back into hiking and looking for a light pack for day hikes. The fact that it was a hydration pack was a bonus because I like to have plenty of water with me and am not crazy about carrying multiple or massive water bottles. I have had this pack for over a year now and have taken it on plenty of light day hikes and other outdoor excursions. I currently keep it packed with a few essentials and ready to go and am enjoying it for that use. It really is just a single pocket, so I have some smaller bags which I use to help organize the contents in there. Access to items is still pretty quick and easy. Water components are easy to use and intuitive, and I've found the 2.5 liter capacity to be plenty for my needs. Obviously, this pack is not for someone who wants to be able to heavily organize a lot of small items or pack for long trips, but I've been more than satisfied with it so far. It wears very comfortably.
