Useful pockets with clever zippered pocket design
Received these shorts today and tried them out. Really impressed - specifically the zippered phone pocket. I have seen pockets implementing the inner liner requiring to lift the outer shell, but these shorts actually stitch the outer shell with the liner so when using the zippered pocket you're actually placing it into a pocket on the liner. This means the phone will sit snugly against your thigh minimizing bouncing. The other pockets ( 4 more) are also quite large and stretchy where you can fit just about anything you would need on a run. This is a winners of far. I'll update later when i get some miles in to see if my opinion changes.
Even better than the regular Sherpa Short
I've tried both the regular sherpa short and this one. Both are great shorts but the 2 in 1 is much better access for a phone. The pocket is bigger and more accessible on the side and doesn't get in the way on a run. I typically don't run in 2 in 1 shorts but I got used to these very quickly. The fit was good in L for me even at a 36 waist and plenty of rooms in legs and hips. Some shorts are just too skinny. Loop works for keys but needs to be a little bigger for auto key fobs. It works for them as well but getting the key back off is a little bit of a struggle. Overall great shorts and I'll probably get a 2nd pair of these rather than the regular sherpa shorts.
My new go-to shorts
These shorts have quickly become my go-to for everything from 5K to Marathon distance and everything in between. I especially like the 2 in 1 design and don't experience any chafing which is a common occurrence with other shorts with liners. It's also nice to have the inner liner when you're sitting down since the shorts are on the shorter side. They fit best after a first wash/use - at first the waist feels like it is going to be too large but the draw string does a good job of comfortably tightening. I would (and have) buy these again especially if they continue to come in new, fun colors!
MY GO TO SHORTS!
I have Nike and Nathan shorts, but these are now the only shorts I use unless all 3 pair are dirty. The zip up side pocket is absolutely perfect for my phone, since I constantly listen to podcasts or music while running or working out. The elasticized pouches along the sides and rear are perfect for holding all kinds of random things, including car keys and gels. AND nothing has ever fallen out, since that was one of my worries. I also love the feel of the material and I love the waistband and how it works. Although I don’t use Brooks running shoes, literally all my other running gear is Brooks!
“Zip-secure pocket” NOT SECURE
I would have given a 5/5 star review were it not for the fact that the “zip secured pocket” is not fully sealed!!! Who makes a zippered pocket that has built in holes and access to the outside? Before going on a long trail run I put my (expensive) AirPods in the zippered pocket thinking it was secured and sealed like every zippered pocket I have ever known. Alas, halfway through the run I discovered both that my AirPods were gone and the sewn hole in the upper part of the pocket. At the trail head I found my AirPods in the parking lot smashed after a car had driven over them. Other than this fatal flaw, I love these shorts. I purchased these after loving the old version of these shorts from 5 years ago- when the zippered pocket was small, in the rear and fully sealed. Please reconsider the “zippered pocket” design flaw or at the very least give a strong warning that it is not fully sealed. It was a very expensive discovery.
Awesome shorts
Great shorts. My one complaint is that the waist seems to be rather large. And the liner is a tad tight on the thighs but it doesn’t bother me. The waist has a pull string so that it can get it tight. Used these on a 100k and several long days of peak bagging and they’ve worked great! Really like the phone pocket and pockets on the waistband.
Sherpa 5” 2 in 1 short
I like everything about this short but unfortunately the waste was too big for me, on other brands I’m wearing xl short, I was shocked when I wear Brooks short when I walk I was too afraid that it will fall down off my legs in front of people , that’s why I will order another one with the same color L size, It’s money lost for me :(
My favorite shorts!
These are by far my favorite running shorts. I enjoy the side pocket for my phone and then the pockets along the waist band are perfect for holding gels. Also, I enjoy the compression shorts lining better than the other types. I'm slowly phasing out all my other shorts to be replaced with this style.
Logo peeling from shorts.
Love the shorts I’ve got 4 of them. However the logo is peeling off on all of them. You really should make that logo more durable because it can only add to the exposure and free advertising you get from runners like me who are on that lakefront running into thousands of runners every single day.
Go-to long distance running shorts
I got these for a 50k trail race. I did every one of my long runs and the race in them, and they are phenomenal. There was hardly ever any chafing, they are very comfortable and non-restrictive. The phone pocket is super secure, I never even noticed my phone in it. The other pockets are great for holding car keys, gels, and anything else you need. I have worn the linerless version of this for a few years, but this was the first pair of the 2-in-1 that I got, and I love them. This will be my go-to pair for long runs and races for the foreseeable future. Only issue I had with them was with the drawstring. If I tied it too tight, it would chafe my waist, but this was easily fixed by loosening the drawstring.
