Uncomfortable and Not The Same Shoe
I have purchased this shoe or a variation thereof over several years. I just received a new pair yesterday that was to have been the shoe of a 6 week European trip. It is being returned. This shoe has been changed and not for the better. The size 9 is shorter than the last pair. The toe box is wider. The back is higher and softer. The shoe is uncomfortable. I will not be ordering any more from Merrell as the consistency of a style is simply non-existent.
Construction changes
I’ve purchased the Encore several times in the past with great satisfaction. Now this women’s shoe has changed. The rim at the opening is not leather anymore and is loose, though the toe box fits. (The men’s equivalent still looks like leather online). Im disappointed.
Bring back the old version
It's those of us who wore these for decades who are so disappointed - Merrill should have just said that "our" shoe was discontinued and named this something else. My biggest complaint is that the old black ones could pass as business dress shoes with trousers, but now the soles are not black and they look too casual. In addition, the heel part in the back is now too high for the shoe to be a slip-on. If I keep them, I'll have to get out my seam-ripper to cut the stupid Merrill tag off the front. I don't know why companies can't leave well enough alone. It was a great shoe.
Looks good. Poor quality
Looks good. And comfy in the beginning. Unstated falling apart after a few months of wearing.
Buttercup encore
Love these shoes. Very comfortable. I’ve worn these Merrell shoes for 30 years. Am enjoying the buttercup color.
One of the best for my lifestyle
I love these shoes, have several pairs and wear a lot! I wear them to go to town, out on the farm and even when I was doing 12 mile day hikes in the Scottish hills—not mountains, mind you but in the hills they were perfect. Wash my farm shoes as needed and get lots of wear from them. Take them traveling too as great for going through the airport and on the plane. I have very high arches and add an insert; even then these shoes fit exceptionally well and the top where the seam is does not put too much pressure on my foot/upper arch. This is wonderful as many shoes are not high enough and really irritate this part of my foot. So glad I found these shoes; have worn them for many years and as I just purchased 2 more pair-fully intend to continue to do so!!!
Encore Breeze wide width is comfy for inside wear
I’ve been wearing Merrell Jungle Mocs for 15 years. I especially like them for walking my dog in the park. Two years ago, I discovered Merrell Encore Breeze 4 and love them. I bought two pairs — one for outside and one for inside. I wear my “inside” pair EVERY day, most of the day. I found that the wide width was extremely comfortable for the peripheral neuropathy in my feet. I wanted to buy another pair of Encore Breeze 4 for inside the house but could only get the newer Encore Breeze 5. Although I slightly prefer the Breeze 4 because it is a bit easier to slip on with its shorter back, the Breeze 5 is quite comfortable.
Comfortable
Got these and they're great they were a little snug when first putting them on but my feet fit in them well. I'm pregnant and my feet are starting to swell a little but I haven't had any issues getting these on. I did have to break them in a little so the first couple times I wore them my feet were a little sore but after a couple wears they're super comfortable. They're light weight and easily slip on I don't have to touch them with my hands to adjust anything. I've only had one slip off once because I caught it just right on a rock as I was trying to catch a kid. Otherwise they stay on snuggly. I have toe problems and these make my toe feel comfortable and secure.
Perfect in so many ways!
I have been searching for a comfortable slipper that can be worn indoors or if necessary, outdoors too. I love being barefoot. After suffering through months of painful plantar fasciitis, I knew I could never go barefoot again on hard surface floors. My podiatrist recommended these as supportive, comfortable and soft insole, ventilated upper to keep my feet cool and comfortable, easy to put on and take off. I can these wear with or without socks. These are simply... perfect!
