Very disappointing
I am a huge Janji fan. They make some of my favorite running gear of all time. I was very disappointed with the fit/design/quality of these shorts. Maybe my cakes are too big, but I found the liner to be way too tight while the outer shell is very loose and billows. This lead to alot of the short liner short of falling down while the shell bunched up during the run. The liners seams also caused irritation. Finally I was disappointed in the drawstring. It's very thin and doesn't secure the waste the the drawstring in my other Janji bottoms. I gave 2 stars cause at least there's a decent pocket system, but sadly I will probably not use these much, and now second guess my janji purchases a bit more.
Amazing Running shorts
I run in shorts year round and these are amazing! Perfect fit and very comfortable! The built in liner provides support for my training. The pockets are convenient for phones, keys, gels, and snacks! Highly recommend as they are the best shirts I have ever worn!!
Very Nice Upgrade
Love these shorts. I have last year's model and these are as comfortable (much!) and also bring a couple nice upgrades. The waist band is both a bit burlier, and a bit more comfortable at the same time; last years did not have as nice a feel to it ... this one is nicer on the skin and feels more durable. The inner shorts, which provide the anti-chafe, seem a bit lighter, that is more breathable. Those inner shorts also are durable enough: I ran with a phone in the pocket that sits snug on the leg; I don't normally do this, and didn't like it so much at first, but by the end of my quick, short run, I'd forgotten it was there. They're great runners, but I'd wear them as pack-and-jump-in-the-lake shorts too.
Best Pockets Worst Chafing
I’ve worn 2 in 1 shorts from several brands (brooks, adidas, ten thousand, saucony, chubbies) and hadn’t experienced chafing on short runs (less than 5 miles) from any of them, but had awful chafing from a 3 mile run. I actually planned on running longer, but the chafing was that bad. If you don’t get chafing with these, the pockets are great - a phone pocket on each leg and small zippered pockets on each side. I wish these were good running shorts, but I’ll instead wear them at the gym.
Dissapointed
The material is great, very soft and comfy and breathable, liner feels awesome. The problem I had with these shorts is they feel like they are going to fall down. I’m constantly trying to pull them up back over my hip and trying to tie the drawstring tighter and tighter. I’m 6”1 190 lbs and not fat and don’t have this problem with other shorts so it’s frustrating I really wanted to like these. The transit tech shorts from janji are perfect I’ll stick with those
move that seam please
I love these shorts and would give them 5 stars but they have one problem. There is a seam down the middle of the inner liner that causes bad chafing on long runs. No issues on shorter runs. They call it a bonded seam, but it still causes chafing for me. If it didn’t have the seam down the middle, it would be the best running shorts I have ever used and it’s not even close.
Good but beware of chafing!
I use these shorts for running every week, and for the most part I really enjoy them! However, I do find that on longer runs the center seam on the liner does cause some pretty painful chafing. I'd definitely suggest testing these shorts at different milage to see how they work before you before taking them right out on a long run.
Another awesome pair of shorts from Janji!
Last year I got two pairs of the 7" AFO Traverse Short in the middle of summer as I needed some shorts with good wicking and lots of storage for my weekend long runs. They were awesome but I was wearing them all the time and so for Xmas my wife got me a third pair of Janjis, the 7" Multi Shorts, which I felt were just as awesome but, as it turns out, could be worn at lower temperatures (25 degrees F and up) so after a few weeks of wearing those, I went to REI to get a second pair of 7" Multi. I saw the Traverse in the rack and thought the colors were awesome so I picked up the 7" Traverse instead. After two runs, I think it is an even better improvement over the Multi and this is for one major reason: The pockets on the inner leg liner are shorter in depth than they are on the Multi which translates to less storage but also means I don't have to dig deep to get that last gel stuck at the bottom which happens sometimes with the Multi and it's no fun to remove my gloves to go digging in there. I bought them on Saturday and took them out for a 19 mile run on Sunday and a 6 mile run on Monday (29 degrees F and 26 degrees F respectively) and not only did they feel perfect but kept me just as warm which was another huge plus! In my right leg pocket I had my iPhone and in the left I had 3 Skratch gel packs. No bounce and everything was snug as a bug. One other thing to note is how light these shorts are. They have somehow gotten the weight down to such a minimal state. I should also mention that, with my other Janji's, I got all three in XL but with the Traverse I actually went into the dressing room at REI and tried both the XL and the Large and the Large felt perfect so I bought the Large Traverse. It is making me think about switching my other Janji's to Large since I never actually tried them in a large and went straight for XL. I am 6' and 204lbs with a 34" waist.
Great for Ultras and long runs. Super comfortable
These shorts check all the boxes for me. They are perfect in length and good in size. I’m 6’3” and 180 lbs got the large. The full built in boxer briefs are thoughtfully designed and have enough support and movement and full pockets on the sides. Ran a 50m ultra and no chaffing or any issues. The short fabric is super light and they have ample movement. Would buy another again.
Perfect Running Shorts
I own several pairs of Janji shorts & pants and these don't disappoint! They're light, breathable, and I find the liner comfortable & supportive. Seems like they upgraded the waist band vs my other pairs of the Traverse shorts and I can't think of anything left to improve. I love the color! I'm a 5'9, 165 lb. male with an athletic build and I find that the medium fits perfectly. Looking forward to wearing these more once the weather warms up in the northeast!
