Dissolving Shorts!
Is it possible to leave 0 stars? Worst shorts I have ever purchased. The leg hem is not stitched in any way, but glued with an adhesive so strong it failed after one wash. Material is surprisingly strong enough to last 4 months before getting easily punctured for looking at something sharp the wrong way. Fast fashion at its finest: overpriced garbage.
When you want to feel fast
I love the subtle design of the Eagle Ray color. It provides a nice visual without being too loud. These are the second pair of Janji middle shorts I've owned. My first pair was from a couple years ago with the mesh fabric. This new pair took everything great about that one and made it better. The new AFO fabric is silky soft and adds a front key loop/credit card pocket. The back pocket is bigger (fits my iPhone XS) and more accessible (horizontal opening versus diagonal and longer zip pull). I wear these shorts whenever I have speed work or races. They make me show more thigh than I'm comfortable with which motivates me to run faster. :P The only downside so far (and why my rating is a 4.5) is that the brief liner occasionally rides up. It's hit or miss which tells me there's a way to wear them so they don't ride up. So with trial and error, I think I can figure it out.
Great for Women TOO!!
Since Janji unfortunately thinks women only want short shorts in the loose styles - hello don't want my butt hanging out on a run and thigh chafing. These are actually really awesome for women! Super lightweight and the waist band miraculously stays put. I'm a hippy shape with a waist 28" hips 40" so the fact that the legs don't bunch up and the waistband stays put is gold! I've ordered two more pairs at the mega sale prices. I am using these for ultra training, hiking and walking the dogs. The waist hits me about 1-2 inches below my belly button and the liner is not too much being a male fit.
Some of my favorite shorts
I have three of these shorts in the 5 inch for mild/colder days and two in the 3 inch when it gets hotter. I just completed my first 100K on January 9th and wore the bright blue ones the whole time. Absolutely love these shorts. The sizing is great, the material stretches and wicks superbly and the perforated waistband really does help move moisture away from my mid section. These work well my shirts and the waist belts I use on longer runs (Ultimate Direction Utility and Salomon Pulse). The newer version has a string pull on the pack pocket which makes getting what I have in there, usually keys or a gel, easy. The string makes closing a breeze. Warm, cool, hot, cold or anything in between, these shorts do the job!
Comfortable, Light, Versatile, Super Comfy
I'm currently training for a marathon, I received these shorts weekend and took them out for a 13 miler. These are without a doubt the most comfortable pair of shorts I've ever owned, and it isn't even close. Normally, I make sure I use some form of anti friction stick before a long run, but I tried these with nothing but the shorts and my legs. After my 13 miler, I had absolutely no chaffing at all. The shorts are light, comfortable, and colorful. After washing them, they didn't shrink at all or lose any color. If you have never bought a pair of these, you're missing out. I highly recommend it!
Super Light and Comfortable Running Short
Really love these shorts so far. I usually run with some kind of spandex briefs under soccer shorts, but these are so much more comfortable. The built in briefs are secure without being too tight or warm. The shorts are super light and the material is very comfortable. The one thing I noticed is that if you did want to use the back zipper pocket for your phone, it's fairly small for a lot of smartphones. I don't like running with mine there anyway so not a big deal, but mine phone isn't even close to fitting in it and most people I know have larger phones than I do. Overall, really love these and will probably buy more cause I'm just not sure I can go back to running in what I used to.
The Best I've Tried
I've used many pairs of running shorts over the years. These are my favorite. I just have 1 pair at the moment, and wash it after every run so its ready for the next. The rear lumbar pocket is the perfect size for a Pixel 3/5 or standard iPhone 12-sized phone. It sits well and doesn't bounce or flop around. Max sized phones like the Pixel 6 Pro don't fit, but I think phones like that are too big to run with anyway. The front key pocket with bungie is perfectly placed. It keeps my key secure and away from my phone. I added a NiteIze microlock s-biner after getting the idea from Janji's transit tech shorts, and it works great. The liner fits me pretty well in a size medium. It's comfortable and wide enough that it doesn't tend to ride up like other shorts I own. The waistband is comfortable and minimal. I saw some versions of the shorts have the drawstring on the inside. The black pair I have has it on the outside, which I prefer so that it's not against my skin. Importantly for running in Texas, these keep me cool. The 5" is about as short as I dare go. They feel appropriate for the weather and activity without being overly skimpy. Overall, just a great pair of running shorts. I plan to get more when I see colors that I'm into.
Best running shorts I've ever worn
I've had these shorts for about 3 months and run in them every week. They are holding up well. They have a comfortable waistband, good stretch, and thoughtfully laid out, sturdy pockets. I live in permanently tropical Florida, and no amount of wicking keeps you dry down here, but these shorts are still pretty comfortable. They are the first pair I reach for. I'm 6'1 and 180 and found the medium to fit with no extra fabric flapping around.
great superlite short short
I’m a 32 waist normally and the M is right for me. The L was way too big it turns out. Glad I got them because they’re supe lite. Small front key protect. Good sized back pockets fit my iPhone 12 mini perfectly. It bounces a little but not in an annoying way, I forget it’s there once I’m going. Great short, but FYI lighter colors will show sweat. Love the Jasper color but that’s the only complaint.
Go to trail short
I am a big fan of the fabric that these shorts use. It is not clingy until I am well into a double digit run and even then it is not uncomfortable. I know others who disagree bit for me they are great. They have enough storage for a gel or two, keys, and maybe smaller phone but most people will have a vest or pack if they need more than that. The prints are fun which is a plus. The 5" seems to be the sweet spot for minimal trail shorts for me. I find i am reaching for these shorts far more often than my BOAs or Swiftlands.
