Nice looking backpack. Has a streamline look, but has a lot of straps, all the same color. It was the main thing I didn’t like. It has a lot of features, big upgrade from my older backpack. Some were hard to notice at first, like the water slot. I like the dual zippered pockets on the top, but I could have gone for one more easily accessible bigger pocket. I have a very short torso, and this pack was very comfortable! It was comfortable in weight and the way the straps sit. I like how easily you can adjust the chest strap. The zippers and fabric seem good quality, I think this pack will last a while.
Overall, I was very pleased with this backpack. Aesthetically it is pleasing. The blue is a nice color and all the features work well together. The zipper pulls are large with large loops that are easy to grasp and open even when gloved but I also had no issue with them getting caught on tree branches in scrambles of my backpack trip. The bag was also well insulated on the back as the temps were cool but ventilated enough to not cause a sweaty back. I am very satisfied with the size of the pack and its compartments for sleeping bag, main compartment which can be assessed from the top or from the front of the pack, inner top pocket, top pocket, open front pouch, and side hip belt pockets for easy access to smaller items. All of which pockets I used on my trip. I stored hiking poles on the outside of the pack when not in use without issue of slippage or them being in the way. Perhaps my favorite feature was the water bottle side pockets. I typically struggle to get a bottle out by myself and have to ask for help or take my pack off but I was able to remove and put back my bottles all on my own! I would attribute that to the deep pockets. In short, I would recommend this backpack. It fit well, had plenty of pockets that were accessible (especially those water bottles!), and was well compartmentalized to keep my gear in order.
What a fantastic bag! This bag is the perfect upgrade for my overnight trips. The number 1 thing I appreciate about this bag is the number of POCKETs it has! It has pockets everywhere! Not one but 2 on the lid, and more on the side and on the inside. As a person who needs to compartmentalize my belongings, the pockets are amazing. I am able to store my sunscreen and bug spray in the lid pocket for easy access. And then I am able to put all my bulky gear inside the large bag and then put my wallet and cellphone in the smaller pocket that's on the outer lid for quick access. The 2 pockets at the waist band is big enough for cellphone storage as well. I was able to grab my camera easily with this pack. I was impressed with the way this bag sat on me - even though it's large and can fit a lot of gear, it didn't feel heavy or bulky. I don't know how it did it, but there's some "technology" that allows the bag to move with you as you walk so it didn't feel like all the weight was on you. The straps on the waist made it feel comfortable and padded. It has a super hard backing so it sits on the your back well and allows it to breath. There's also straps everywhere that you can strap things to such as hiking poles and padded seats. There is an extra pocket on the bottom of the pack that I didn't even use. Overall, this bag feel incredibly sturdy and comfortable and the amount of pockets will make you feel super organized and can contain all that you need for a backpacking trip. Love it! Highly recommend.
Size XS/S. I wore hiking and the pack felt comfortable. I was concerned the size would be to tight, but felt good on my frame. The packs sits right against my butt bone/lower back. At first I thought this meant it was too little, but now understand bag should sit this way so you have support help carry the weight. The pqck opening clamp didnt snap when closed and was easy to open. Couldn't tell if this was intentional and if my accidently dropped bag, would it unsnap. Overall, the bag is great, roomy and felt great on my frame. Plan to continue using as a replacement from my previous bag that is too large for frame. “I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.”
I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I am typically an Osprey gal but after trying to cram everything I needed for a two night backpacking trip into my 40L pack, I realized I needed a bigger pack (please don't judge - there was a large bear canister!). Anyway, I was very happy to be provided with this Gregory Jade 63L pack through the REI Trailblazer Program. This is a very comfortable pack. I appreciate the number of pockets and the U-Zip feature. Since I use my iPhone as my main camera, I appreciated that the waistbelt pockets accommodate it. As someone who frequently loses my sunglasses (or drops them in the dirt), I also appreciate the Sunglasses Quickstow System. My only complaint would be that I wish it included a rain cover. I look forward to using this pack when I do the Pemi Loop this fall!
I used this backpack once and the sternum strap broke. The replacement strap (see other reviews) is a joke. I’m so disappointed in Gregory, as they reported they could do nothing. I used to be a loyal Gregory fan.
Thanks for leaving the feedback regarding your experience. Please follow up with us regarding the sternum strap failure as our repair center can help reinstall the part.
This thing has fit everything I've ever tried to carry in it, including a 5-gallon Primo water jug that I needed to carry home from the grocery store without a car. I can easily fit all my climbing gear in it without having to play a finicky Tetris game while packing. I can reach back and stuff all kinds of things in the stretchy side pockets without having to take the backpack off. The XS/S frame fits my very short torso perfectly and the hip belt doesn't hurt even when the pack is fully loaded. I've had this thing for years and I will probably be using it until I die.
To say I love Gregory bags is an understatement. I always know when I buy a Gregory that I am getting a comfortable pack that takes women's curves into consideration. I can also always count on the bags being similar in quality regardless if it's a Nano, or a Deva. I recently purchased the new Jade 63 (I have the Jade 33 in Ethereal gray for comparison) and I'm really psyched. I have to knock off a few stars however as Gregory removed the sunglasses feature off the should straps! WHY!? This is such a unique and handy feature - I am truly so bummed. I didn't realize that this feature wasn't included in the remake of the Jade bags. I still love the bag, but I am still bummed about it!! Please consider bringing it back :D

I've taken this backpack on a couple short backpacking trips now and am very satisfied with it. The main compartment has plenty of space for everything I need, including a large bear canister. My favorite features are the variety of pockets, including the side water bottle pockets that are accessible without taking the pack off. I also like the removable divider that separates the bottom part of the bag and the loops on the outside for trekking poles. I've also used these outside loops to hold a wet rain fly. Although the rain cover is separate, I was pleased to discover that the pack itself is a little bit rain resistant--I was rained on pretty heavily on the final day of my last trip and my things inside stayed pretty dry considering I didn't have a rain cover. The pack sits very comfortably on my hips/back and the variety of adjustment straps make it easy to fit it exactly right. The design is also good for ventilation. Overall, this pack has been great so far, and I look forward to using it on future backpacking trips!
I love this pack! I finally upgraded after years of indecision and I couldn't be happier with the Jade 63. I used Gregory's size calculator to pick my size and took her out on her maiden voyage. The pack felt comfortable around my hips and shoulders and distributed the weight perfectly for a highly supportive feel. If you are in the market for a pack that fits well, moves with you, and holds everything you need for a big adventure, I recommend the Jade 63!
