Stay aware of your surroundings
I wish it were easier to switch between devices without having to turn off and pair or turn off Bluetooth on the device. Very comfortable and long lasting battery. I highly recommended them to another runner the other day when I came across a rattlesnake. Great to hear things out in the wild.
They work great, but have limited lifespan
I really like these; the sound quality is just fine for the purpose (music not too loud while running so that I can still have awareness of my surroundings). Battery life has been good, and connectivity to iPhone / Apple Watch have been fine. However, they don't last very long. First pair (2020) lasted just under a year, and Shokz (then called Aftershokz) replaced it without a hassle. Second pair didn't last quite two years - suddenly died. Won't charge, can't turn on. For the price, these should be more robust. Usage has been decent - 3-4 times a week over this time.
I’m sold
I love my AirPods but wanted to try these for running in the road to be able to hear approaching cars and for early morning trail runs after startling several animals and having a heart attack. The sound quality isn’t as good as in ear headphones of course but I actually find after about 2 minutes I don’t notice. They are comfortable and I quickly forget I have them on. I also really like the water resistance so I can wear them out in the rain. The mini fits my smaller head really well. Battery life also seems to be better than advertised so far but the proprietary charging cable is a bit of a bummer. Works great but I am concerned I will lose it and be left in silence until I can get another one instead of being able to grab a universal one from the junk drawer.
Great sound, but poor activation button
This is my 2nd air SHOKZ. I lost my 1st pair. I gave 4 stars because the pause/play doesn’t protrude out sufficiently to allow quick locating to pause or answer a phone call. The surface of the button could also use a rough surface so easier to locate. I do like the magnetic connection for charging, but having only one charge cord can be problematic if left at hotel or hom when traveling. The photos show easy-to-locate button on my spouse’s Air SHOKZ original design and poor design of my new pair.
This is my second pair of Open Run headphones
This is my second pair of Open Run headphones, the first pair lasted about 5 years before finally giving out after hard, almost daily use. I have loved them for the ability to be able to hear surrounding sounds while riding, hiking, or even while in the office and don't hesitate to recommend them to everyone that is active in areas that require the ability to hear outside sounds. Bass is a bit lacking, but they are excellent for listening to podcasts or talk radio.
Favorite headphones now! Not for everyone tho :)
This is my favorite pair of headphones as it allows me to hear when others are speaking to me and they don’t have to hear the loud music coming from my ears as it’s bone conducting. I used to love noise canceling headphones but they would make me paranoid of my surroundings so this is a great alternative and I like that I can hang them around my neck when not in use (super light weight). This is my second pair and I will continue to buy them from now on. Highly highly recommend…especially for Neuro-spicy individuals.
OpenRun vs AirPods
Before I got my OpenRuns I used AirPod Pros with transparency mode turned on while running. After a month with the OpenRuns I have yet to use my AirPods for a run. There is just something so freeing not having anything in your ears and I do not miss the occasional drip of sweat getting in my ear. The sound quality is exactly what I expected, perfect to hear your music but also what’s going on around you. For podcast I do seem to need to turn them way up in order to make out what they’re talking about. Overall the OpenRuns have not disappointed me for my 20 runs and about 15 hours. And the battery is excellent I am on charge 2 and it is still telling me “battery is high” when I turn it on.
Open run minis
I wish I would've tried these a long time ago. I have openrun, openrun pro 2 I dont like and open run mini. These are now my favorite. I like how they hug my neck better. So when I lay back for a little bit they dont push off my ears. These are perfect and the only ones ill buy anymore
Give me Shokz to shout out to the world
Definitely Maybe! Remember that movie? Ryan Reynolds puts fictional ear buds in his beautiful ears and walks to his daughter’s school. But wait, yikes, he almost gets hit by a bus. He turns around and mouths “Thank you,” to the guy who saved him. Both of them cannot hear anything except the music channeling through their plugged up ears. Well, those earbuds are no longer fiction, and getting hit by a bus can definitely happen anytime there’s one around. BUT, these Shokz bone-conduction ear phones are my dream come true. Open ears. No uncomfortable pressure points. No removing one when I need to hear someone talking to me. As far as sound quality it’s great unless it’s a really basey song. Also, if you’re in an extremely noisy situation and have to turn them WAY up they will vibrate against your head. (Like when you’re using a power sprayer to wash a bus;) However, if you’ve ever wished you could have your soundtrack playing while you go about your day looking as cool as Ryan Reynolds, this is the way!
