Perfect fit
Perfect fit and made to last. I checked on this hat for a few weeks. It was more expensive than other sun hats but looks like it would last a lot of use and would protect my head and ears from the strong sun rays
Great Sun Hat, Questionable Rain protection
I bought The OutBack Hat for hiking. When I first got it, I was surprised by the strings inside the hat. They look like shoe laces and are used to secure the hat in the wind. They lie on the inside of the hat. Once on, they lay on my head and were a bit of a nuisance. My first hike with the hat was on a mountain in central Vermont. The hat was great for the sun, but It rained that day. The Outback Hat initially held out the rain, but within a few minutes let in the rain water. The water poured down my face, neck and down by inside of my shirt, making the last mile feeling I should have had gills. There was no protection from the rain at all. I recommend The Outback Hat, if you are going hiking in a dry climate, as it is comfortble, and keeps the sun off, but I do not recommend the hat for any place where you could get rain. It is very definitely not water proof or even water resistant.
