Lightweight and comfy
So great! Exactly what I wanted - lightweight and warm and comfy for backpacking.
Slightly thick but...breathable?
I was first a little disappointed with how thick this beanie was, expecting that it would be thinner, but then I took it out for a test run and I was pleasantly surprised at how breathable it was and I didn't over heat with it until the temperature got warmer. It did its job and then some though - it kept me warm at the start and didn't make me want to cower under the blanket. Not only that, but because of its lovely plush feel, I've started wearing this beanie just walking about the city not in any athletic pursuits, but just because it feels good, and when the temperatures dip at night, it has come in handy. I am looking forward to this beanie being a valued travel partner seeing that it will condense down to hardly anything in a backpack and I'll be happy I have it.
Great Beanie But Too Small
This is a well made beanie which would keep a person warm if they had a small head. It barely covers half of my ears. I would have expected that a one size item would have covered the head better. I think the product description needs to give a range of size heads that it would comfortably fit.
Comfortable and Warm
While your hair won’t look particularly perky after wearing a beanie/hat, the benefits of this warmth and comfort outweigh the hat hair consequence. Recently I tested washing the hat by hand and hanging it to dry with no issue—it was dry and clean the next morning. I also find the name fun. :)

These hats are so warm!
These hats seem to keep my head warmer than any knit cap that is out there. The lining is nice and I love the colors.

If you’re like me, you return every piece of outdoor gear until you find the right piece. This is a holy grail piece. It runs small. It’s tight and fitted. I wear a 7-1/8 for reference. If it will fit you get it. REI always stocks the best stuff and turtle fur is no exception. This is my 2nd product of turtle furs that I’m just simply blown away with the quality and effectiveness of the product. It has been windy in Tulsa lately and most beanies don’t cut wind out completely or they’re too loose and ride up your head and expose your ears, not this one. Hints the fitted design. It’s lined, but the lining never rolls. It’s not gonna be all wonky in a month of wear because the liner was too loose. The product itself is heavyweight which I liked, it felt like it was worth the money I spent. It’s smoothe and doesn’t hold odor. It also makes a great Shriner hat when you perch it up on the dome. Highly recommend.

This beanie is warm, well fitting, and very stylish. Was a great value. Delivered amazingly quick which is no surprise as REI never disappoints.
